Some of you reached out after our recent posts about Konnor Smith, so we thought we’d explain the connection.

Konnor was born and raised right here in Windsor, Ontario. He grew up playing for WMHA (Windsor Minor Hockey Association), Windsor AAA Zone and the Chatham Cyclones AAA.

In 2020, he was drafted in the 9th round (175th overall) by the Peterborough Petes, where he went on to win an OHL Championship in 2023.

In June 2023, he was drafted in the 4th round (97th overall) by the Anaheim Ducks.

And on April 18, 2025, he signed his first NHL contract with Anaheim, sitting at the kitchen table in the front room of his childhood friend’s home.

So why are we so invested in this great kid?

Because he’s ours.

Darren and Nicole’s son. Larry’s nephew.

And while the hockey world gets to see the player he’s becoming, what most people don’t get to see is this silly boy of mine walking through the back doors of Rosa’s, rubbing his belly and announcing, “Mom, I’m hungry.”

He’s currently in San Diego, California, playing for the Gulls in the AHL. Still chasing the same dreams he’s had for longer than I can remember.

And we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way. ❤️🏒🥅

EXCITING NEWS!!

We’ve been working really hard behind the scenes these last five years to grow ourselves into a business that could give back responsibly to the community that supports us. And we are so proud and excited about this project.

EAT SOUP. 🥣

A lot of you already know our small but mighty employee Emily. She’s been with us since she’s 15 years old. Answering phones, doing dishes but most will know her as the “Popcorn Girl” from when she sold popcorn in the lobby of the store last year to pay for her school trip to Europe.

Well, our Em is growing up! She started university this month. Social work program. ❤️

As parents, we understand how expensive school can be. And as business owners, we know how difficult it is to pay all of our employees living wages when margins are already so small in the food industry.

But what we have been able to figure out and are able to do is provide opportunity. And that’s what we’ve been able to do for Emily.

Growing our catering business quietly has allowed us to fund this program to support Emily pay her university tuition, one bowl of soup at a time.

16oz. Homemade chicken noodle soup. (Frozen)

$5.50 each or 5 for $25.

Orders and e-transfers can be sent to Emily’s email

Thank you for supporting us here at Rosa’s Pizza. It’s allowed us to implement some of our visions to start giving back. ❤️

Eat soup! 🥣

**soup is made with love by our very own Nadia. With Em doing some vegetable chopping. Available for pick up at Rosa’s Pizza 3491 Walker Rd.**
