The Lindsays Homestead

The Lindsays Homestead Custom orders are always welcome and I ship across Canada and Europe Williams, Ontario. All of my handmade items are made by me in my home.

I offer fine quality knit items using natural fiber hand-spun yarns as well as creating fur and leather items

I have been in business since 2005 and love creating new items. Lindsay's Homestead was started in 2007 when my family moved to our own little corner of the world in St. I found it very hard to find products that were handmade and from local materials, so I started making my own. Taking i

t one step further I learned how to produce my own hand-spun yarns. Most of my materials are from farms located within 50kms of our original homestead. Following a major move to the Northwest Territories in 2015 my raw fibres are still coming from these small, family run farms in Ontario. I do the majority of my own processing and dyeing right here in my home or backyard. I get great joy from creating and sometimes designing these wonderful items. My family and I know the joy that can come from a handmade item and the thrill of tasting something that is fresh and home made. We are now at the point where we can share this with others. Being able to bring our products to others, for their enjoyment is a dream come true. There is nothing so wonderful as having something that was made just for you!!. We look forward to being able to give you a bit of our little homestead!

A day that starts with "who laid that thing" and has progressed to playing with herbs.

Drying, hanging, making harvesting....will fill the pantry.

Quail eggs! Gotta admit I am a little bit obsessed

The last few days have been focused on "catch up". Getting the herbs much needed harvest in, hung or into the dehydrator or laid out on racks.

Busy and happy to be back doing this type of thing.

The last couple of days I have been snapping pictures of my little covey of juvenile quails.

I have some really beautiful colours and am excited to start a selection for the ones we will over winter.

Thought I would share the pretty with you.

It has been hot here, I mean 30c hot here. To hot to even think about working with fibre...... so i am busy with the quail.

The chicks are almost fully feathered now and will soon be able to tell males from females.

This little female wanted to pose for her close up.
