Weaving Machinery is set to take the wraps of its new 12m trailed Sabre tine drill tomorrow at Cereals. FMJ saw the drill at that’s been two years in the making, during its final stages of construction.
It’s the firm’s biggest project to date, explains Simon Weaving, and it shares very few components with any other Weaving drill. Building on the principles of the existing Sabres, the business end of the drill comprises four, 3m coulter frames that can oscillate 6-degrees. Depth is controlled by eight wheels aided by an automatic pressure control system similar to that used on a GD. The 48 Sabre coulters are spaced at 250mm or there’s the option to spec 50mm Bourgault band-sowing coulters. Fluted discs precede the coulters and cut a slot up to 50mm deep.
Seed and fertiliser is metered from the 6,000-litre three-compartment pressurised hopper by a new cartridge metering unit.
