This is more than a business for us, it is a way of life. Our pasture raised chickens get fresh pasture every day and good quality feed. It shows in the flavor. Cooked with only butter, salt, pepper, and garlic. One chicken makes multiple meals (and bone broth). Tonight our dinner was our chicken, sweet potatoes from our garden, and corn from the farmers market.

We are processing more chickens this week.

Our goat milk soap and balm both start with tallow that we render from locally raised beef. It takes many steps to ensure it is pure and clean. All products we make we use ourselves with the highest quality of inputs. This current batch of tallow came from local beef we purchased to be processed to feed our family. The suet (which renders into tallow) is often discarded, so we also reduce waste by requesting it with our beef order. It also helps us offset the cost of beef for ourselves by turning the waste into products. This is why we do this. Having a homestead is not very profitable, but it helps us live a cleaner life and share it with others.
