Whisky, sherry casks… and best of the best in Tokyo!

Once again, we are proud to announce our exceptional performance at this year’s Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition, confirming the long winning streak that we have constantly followed in all previous editions!
Renowned for its strict standards, the competition utilizes a panel of over 300 jurors who conduct blind tastings over multiple weeks, ensuring completely impartial and highly repeatable results year after year.

Like in previous editions, this time too our highest-scoring expressions were those featuring bold, rich Sherry finishes. This prestigious recognition validates our long-standing commitment to wood management and our endless search for the finest Spanish casks, which remain central to our maturation style for a large majority of our bottlings: it’s one of the distinctive elements of our taste and approach (but certainly not the only one!).

Our medals for this edition were:
Superior Gold: Linkwood 18yo “Sherry Finish Oloroso” 2007-25 (57,3%) W&M589
Finished for five years in a first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead, this Speyside malt is fruity, creamy, with a late spicy touch. It definitely shows the Oloroso influence, while retaining elegance and the qualities of the distillery.

Gold: Ardmore 12yo “Sherry Finish PX” 2013-25 (53,3%) W&M592
Only slightly tamed by a finish of 24 months in first fill Pedro Ximenez, it remains very muscular, with notes of pinewood, cereals, liquorice root, leather, camphor and mint. A whisky for lovers of intense flavours.

But it doesn’t end here… of ALL the whiskies submitted for the competition, our Linkwood 18yo won the most coveted prize: the Best Category Award, assigned to the whisky that got the absolute highest average score from the 300 jugdes! Yes, you read it right: our Linkwood was the favourite single malts of ALL!

And once again, our Japanese distributor ePower deserves very special thanks for helping us improve our presence on the local market and submitting our best bottlings for the competition!

An exciting return

After almost ten years of absence from the Wilson & Morgan collection, a beloved distillery has made its return! One of those distilleries with mythical status, with a very distinctive profile: Clynelish, with its always recognizable Highlands style!

We bottled two new very similar single casks:
W&M609 Clynelish 20yo 2005-25 Traditional Oak (52,0%)
W&M610 Clynelish 20yo 2005-25 Traditional Oak (50,1%)
limited to, respectively, 215 and 217 bottles each.


They are both very true to the style of the distillery, matured in refill bourbon casks (what we call “Traditional Oak”) because we wanted to preserve the old-fashioned style of the spirit intact: a statement of purity, for the joy of connoisseurs. Subtle and elegant whiskies, with the typical notes of heather honey, beeswax, candied orange and lemon peel. A robust and mineral style that stands on its own, with the least possible influence from the wood.
Given the scarcity of bottles and the fair pricing, these two releases will certainly become collector’s items in time… as it always happens with cult distilleries and iconic bottlings with long age statements. Have you read Whiskyfun’s recent 90 points review of our W&M94 Caol Ila 30yo 1980-11 Bourbon cask (58,8%) from a few years ago?
This is the kind of bottling that becomes legendary, and these new Clynelish with their traditional approach are in the same mould.

And while we are speaking of high accolades, we are also happy to announce that our W&M566 Glen Moray 18yo 2006-24 Sherry Finish Oloroso (54,8%) has received 92 points and the award for “Best independent bottling of 2025” from CigarsLover magazine!
