We have now closed our stall until next season. Thank you everyone that supported us. It was a very successful season despite the roads and river still being munted from the floods. If you're not already, please follow us so you can be first to know when we reopen.

Every blueberry wears a tiny five pointed crown.

That star is the last trace of its flower, still stamped into the fruit.

But the part most people miss is what that mark represents.

Before it was a berry, it was a pale bell shaped blossom built to lure bees. The five points you see are the dried calyx, the base of that flower, left intact as the fruit swells and ripens.

Most fruits shed this evidence. Blueberries keep it.

Indigenous North American tribes noticed the star long ago and called them star berries, tying the shape to stories of provision during difficult seasons. Botanically, that crown marks the exact place where pollination succeeded and a bloom committed to becoming food.

Every harvest carries proof that it began in something fragile.

The smallest details remember the whole story.

For anyone waiting for more blueberries. We have been waiting for them to ripen. The lack of sunshine has delayed the process somewhat but they are now changing colour and sweetening up. We're planning on opening our stall tomorrow (Thursday 22nd) as soon as the rain stops and look forward to seeing you all.
