Today we close theLAB Porto. These years were filled with conversations, shared glasses, discoveries, and people who helped turn this place into something meaningful. Every visit, every bottle chosen, every moment added life to this space.

We carry all of it with us. What remains isn’t just the memory of the shop, but the mark it left on the city and on everyone who walked through the door.

Thank you for being part of this. We’ll still see each other around Porto, because this chapter ends, but the connection doesn’t.

Muitos negócios pequenos no Porto têm passado tempos difíceis este ano. Menos turismo, menos movimento e muita gente acaba por comprar no supermercado em vez de ir às lojas do bairro. Isso pesa mais do que parece.

Enquanto fechamos esta semana, f**a uma ideia simples. Quando fores comprar alguma coisa, lembra-te dos sítios onde gostas de ir. E pensa em quando foi a última vez que lá foste.

Se queremos que o Porto continue a ter aquilo que nos fez gostar dele, temos de apoiar quem mantém estas portas abertas. Cada visita conta.

Small businesses in Porto have been having a tough year. Tourism is slower, spending is down, and many people choose the supermarket instead of the shops in their neighborhood. It adds up more than most realize.

As we close this week, here’s a simple thought. The next time you buy something, think about the places you enjoy. And think about the last time you went there.

If we want Porto to keep the things that made us fall in love with it, we need to support the people keeping these doors open. Every visit matters.

Se quiserem continuar a acompanhar o que faço, sigam — uma conta onde falava sobre eventos na cidade e que vou reinventar nos próximos tempos. Pode signif**ar organizar eventos, voltar a agregá‑los… o objetivo é o mesmo: continuar a construir comunidade e ligar pessoas.

Na sexta‑feira, 24 de julho, vamos abrir garrafas até às 19h — um dia para brindar, conversar e recordar tudo o que construímos juntos.

🇵🇹 O que acontece quando deixamos o dogma de lado? Nascem vinhos incríveis e impossíveis de catalogar, como estes dois que temos no theLAB Porto. Enquanto certas regiões (olhamos para ti, França) vivem obcecadas com regras rígidas, por cá há espaço para a magia—seja por intenção ou por pura sorte!

No vídeo falo primeiro do Atão, vás tinto?, da Gerações da Talha. Um sonho do produtor João para resgatar uma técnica ancestral alentejana: passar uvas brancas (Antão Vaz) pelas massas de um tinto em talhas de barro. Tem a frescura de um branco e a estrutura de um tinto leve.

Depois temos o Underdog #5 Palhete, do Hugo Mendes. Um acidente maravilhoso! Uvas brancas de Arinto que iam para um skin-contact passaram sem querer por tubagens que tinham processado Alicante Bouschet. O "azar" deu lugar a um palhete rosado com 9,5% de álcool, super fresco e seco.

Dois caminhos diferentes, vinhos livres e fora da caixa. Já os provaste?

🇬🇧 What happens when winemakers ditch dogma? We get unclassifiable, deeply exciting wines like these two bottles at theLAB Porto. While traditional regions (looking at you, France) focus on rigid rules, Portugal proves magic happens when you break the mold, by design or luck!

In the video, I talk first into Atão, vás tinto? by Gerações da Talha. Born from a dream, Teresa revived an Alentejo tradition by passing white Antão Vaz wine through red grape must inside clay talhas. It has the freshness of a white with the subtle grip of a light red.

Then the complete opposite: a happy accident! Hugo Mendes' Underdog #5 Palhete happened when white Arinto grapes took a detour through piping that had just processed red Alicante Bouschet skins. That cellar chaos resulted in a fresh 9.5% ABV pink palhete.

Two different paths, same result: low-intervention wines that refuse to fit into a box.
