It was almost a year ago today that the Great Watermelon Giveaway of ‘25 happened. No, we will never be repeating this event again 🙃 If you don’t know about it, our farming friends in Florida had two loads of watermelon get rejected up here because of small percentage of the melons were not good. Instead of paying to ship them back south, our friend asked if we’d like to give them away to the community. What we thought would be a fun giveaway day turned into a logistical nightmare. We posted on our social media the night before and the news picked up the story. Despite having a decent flow and plan, we just could not handle the amount of people and ultimately got shut down by the weigh master. Don’t worry - the melons found homes with various local charities. But we learned our lesson 😂

I have to brag on Homedrawn by Liz for a minute…I came to her a couple months ago with a pretty complicated request. We’ve always wanted an aerial map of the farm for customers to see where each activity is. However, we rotate our crops every year and we are constantly changing things around. So I asked her if she could make some interchangeable magnets for our animals, crop and other activities. 🌽🫏

She completely blew me away with her attention to detail, and I’m so excited to see this piece come to life! It will be on display by our front door this season! ❤️

Our farm kitchen crew has been busy this off season testing some new farm fresh creations! Our menu for May 30-June 30 will feature all things 🍓STRAWBERRY🍓

🍓 Strawberry shakes, slushies, glaciers
🍓 Strawberry donuts topped with strawberry or lemon glaze
🍓 Strawberry shortcake

In addition to these offerings, our grab + go cooler will be filled with our farmer’s choice salad with homemade ranch, strawberry spinach salad with homemade strawberry balsamic, pickle dip, chicken salad and strawberry cheesecake dip!

We open in just 12 days…holy COW! We are stoked and working hard to get ready! Still lots to do but we see the light at the end of the tunnel 🙌 I apologize for the long post, but there’s so much to share! 📢

Starting May 30th, we will officially open for season 8! 🍅🥬🚜🍩🫏🛝

Day passes for the play area will be available in person once we open, but season passes are available NOW online! ➡️Purchase them here: https://deeprootsproduce.simpletix.com (click on each pass for more info)

If you’ve never visited Deep Roots or if you need a refresher, here’s the scoop:

🫏 Our market barn and petting zoo are FREE to visit. No ticket needed. The market is filled with homegrown & local produce, local goods, and treats from our farm kitchen like donuts, personal pizzas, ice cream and more! Our petting zoo is home to over 40 animals, including goats, donkeys, cows, pigs, horses, sheep, alpacas and peacocks 🦚 We sell seasonal and disposable feed cups in the market barn.

🎟️ Paid activities: Admission is required for anyone ages 3 and up for our Farmyard (play area,) corn maze, glow nights and flower fields. Ages 0-2 are free. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

☀️ So, what will opening weekend look like?!
Our market barn, farm kitchen, petting zoo and play area will be open and will remain open through November 1 🍂
🍩 Our featured donut flavor for May 30-June 30 is…STRAWBERRY
🍓We will also have strawberry Nutella cups, strawberry shortcake, strawberry shakes and more berry delicious treats!
🍕🥗 In addition to sweets, the kitchen crew will be stocking the grab & go cooler with salad and dips and we will be making pretzels and pizzas to order!
🌻💐 We anticipate our cut flower fields to open mid July and sunflowers should bloom in early August.
🥬🍅 This year, we are expanding our u-pick produce offerings. Instead of just tomatoes, you’ll be able to pick onions, lettuce, kale, summer squash and more!
