Imagine with us, a field of big and small multicolored sunflowers and east coast pollinator dream swales of flowering glory abound. Its all covered in snow now, but soon, SOON, friends we will see brilliant blooms and encouraging early season harbingers of warmer days to come!
This year, 2026, we will engage in a big push to plant up perennial patches and circles that ward our crop rows well.

Lately, amidst developing seedling charts and planting programs, Grant and Chloé have been leaning into learning! Grant has been accepted into our organic certifier's Journey Person program and we've been gleaning inspiration and strategy from the stories of incredible communities, like those formed at Round the Bend Farm, who are engaged in collaborative efforts that erich and empower their local food systems.

Planning for OHF's 2026 Market Season has been underway for weeks. Very, VERY, soon Grant and Chloé will be nurturing tiny plant seedlings to life while the snow continues to pile up higher and higher!

Happy December! We covered our 48 x 30 ft Nor Easter Greenhouse with straw to protect the soil from erosion and acts as a w**d suppression. There is a cover crop of winter rye under the straw. We will be planting in this greenhouse in about 100 days in March. Sweet dreams and happy hibernation! 💚

A rainy autumnal day at Open Heart Farm. Changing the transmission/ hydraulic fluid on the BCS 749. BCS' are a common and very reliable workhorse in small-scale farming practices. This walk behind tractor has a powersafe clutch that allows for very smooth operation of the attached implement. Powersafe models have engine oil and a seperate hydraulic/ transmission fluid and filter. That being said, she packs a punch. Italian made 🇮🇹 since 1943. 💚
