Thereā€™s a saying about crabs in a bucketā€¦ when one crab starts climbing its way out, instead of the others helping it escape, they pull it back down. ā€œIf I canā€™t get out, neither can you.ā€

Thatā€™s where the term crab mentality comes from.

And people can be the exact same way.

As long as youā€™re doing what everyone else is doing, nobody questions it. Go into debt for a new vehicle, college, a house, or things that make you look successful, and people congratulate you.

But take that same money and invest it into a business, equipment, or an idea that could actually change your life?

Suddenly everybody becomes a financial advisor.

ā€œWhat if it doesnā€™t work?ā€
ā€œThatā€™s a lot of money.ā€
ā€œYou sure thatā€™s a good idea?ā€
ā€œI wouldnā€™t do that.ā€

Sometimes people arenā€™t trying to protect you. Your willingness to take a chance reminds them of the chances they were too afraid to take.

The higher you climb, the easier it becomes to see whoā€™s cheering you on and whoā€™s reaching up trying to pull you back into the bucket.

You donā€™t need everybody to understand your vision. You donā€™t need everybody to support it. And you definitely donā€™t need their permission to chase it.

Keep climbing. šŸ¦€šŸ’Æ

Surround yourself with people who donā€™t pull you back into the bucketā€¦ surround yourself with people who help push you out.
