🥚 Farm-fresh eggs are more than just pretty yolks—they can pack more nutrition, too!
When hens get to roam and forage for greens, seeds, and bugs, that varied diet can show up in the eggs they lay.
Compared with eggs from hens fed a standard commercial diet, eggs from pastured hens have been found to contain:
🌿 About twice as much vitamin E
🌿 More than twice as much omega-3 fat
🌿 Higher vitamin A concentration
🌿 A better balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fats
That’s one reason I love having eggs from hens that get to live outdoors and forage. Their diet is more varied, and it can make a real difference in what ends up in the egg!
The yolks can be richer in color, too—but the nutrition comes from the hens’ diet, not just the color.
