It was a GREAT day at the I'm especially proud of Ionia County 4Her J.J. who did a great job at his first ADGA show today! Way to go! I'm also thankful for the help of great friends, showing four (!!🫨😵‍💫) breeds today wouldnt have been possible with them!

Today was an emotional, but very good day. Irish Valley Saga's Sabina was named Best Junior Doe in Show at the Udderside of the Mitten show under judge April Hitch.

Less than a year ago, Kate Puglia planned for Sabina - pursuing the goats that would become her parents, and piecing together the breeding that produced this beautiful doe. Kate's efforts were recognized today!

I will confess, when Sabina was born at my farm, while Kate courageously fought cancer, she was the kid I was most ready for her to go home! Bold, bullheaded, bossy, but also so beautiful. ❤️ It was OUR plan that Kate would show her today. But when it became more apparent that our plan was not God's plan, my heart told me Sabina had to stay. In one of our last conversations, Kate and I talked about Sabina, Kate gave her blessing on her name and her new home. What an honor it was to hold her collar in the ring today. And what an honor it is to love this doe in Kate's memory every day. .valley.farm

We've arrived at the Udderside of the Mitten Show! The maiden voyage of my new trailer means fewer goats left at home! Three bucks tonight, and two milkers and five juniors tomorrow! It's a shame there isnt a 'Best Buck Hair" award, we'd be contenders!

After every milking, the inflations - the part of the milk machine that attaches to the goat's teats - are connected to a pump and washing unit and cycled through rinse water, dairy soap, acid rinse, and sanitizer. This process keeps the milk clean and the does healthy. Because I'm not a licensed Grade A Dairy, all inspections fall on Duncan the cat's furry orange shoulders.

It turns out a tractor is the trick to getting little boys of ALL kinds to stand still for a moment!..

I'm thrilled to share my two new junior herdsires - Hoanbu YJ Yukon Pilot and Au Bel Highlight Ranger!

Hoanbu YJ Yukon Pilot's sire needs no introduction - Tempo Aquila Yukon Jack! He's a 2x National Show Premier Sire, and his progeny include two National Champions and a Reserve National Champion! Pilot's dam - Hoanbu JT Pasta Pesto was the '24 National Junior Champion! I've admired her since 2024, and she is even more beautiful in person! Pilot is the light cham.

Au Bel Highlight Ranger is a homebred boy sired by an AI throwback - Cherry Glen Radical Highlight! Highlight's the son of a National Champion and was consigned in the 2002 Spotlight Sale. However, his most notable accomplishment, of course, was being featured in my 2004 Silver Award-winning High School FFA Demonstration project! 🤣 Ranger's dam is the matriarch of the Au Bel herd - GCH Redwood Hills L Robin. Ranger is the dark cham, who looks just like his dad! 🥰

Holding joy and grief in the same hand... it's not for sissies! But these two girls bring me JOY!

Especially when they run to the gate together on a beautiful, sunny morning! They will be staying here, these Irish Valley girls are lifers! Saanen Missy's Magnolia and Lamancha Saga's Sabina. 🥰
