Farm management looks different on every farm. Today I am baking for the farmstand pop up this afternoon and then this weekend Dad takes over and he is running everything while I am at a vendor event. Two people, one purpose. Don't let the tiny dinosaurs or tiny humans get the better of us. My secret to success involves Dr pepper, slices of cake and nap time.

New to our menu are sheet cakes! These simple classics are just what was needed. This week's favorite flavor has been vanilla! With rich flavors, a fluffy fulfilling crumb topped with buttercream frosting they make a perfect dessert, snack and when no one is looking even breakfast.

You know, we’ve been thinking…

We’d really like to let you in on a little more of what goes on around here. ❤️

Not just the finished products or the pretty pictures, but the everyday stuff too. Like Getting up at 6 am to take the broilers to the butcher. Or as seen in our cameo video working with the pasture hogs.

The early mornings. The garden. Gathering eggs. Baking in the kitchen. Working on projects. Checking on things. Figuring out what needs to be done next. Some days are productive, some are a little chaotic, and some are just plain ordinary.

And we think that’s worth sharing. Because we aren't that different you and I. Maybe our houses look a little different or our yards. I know for a fact that my homeless racoon look is entirely one of a kind. LOL.

So from here on out, we’re going to bring you along a little more — just like you stopped by for a cup of coffee and we started catching up. ☕️

We’ll show you what we’re working on, what’s growing, what’s cooking, what we’re learning, and maybe even a few things that don’t go quite as planned. 😊

We’re thankful for every one of you who follows along, orders from us, stops by, or simply cheers us on.

So pull up a chair and stay awhile.

Say what???? Mabel sure is enjoying scratching in the woods near the pasture. She is not to be trusted around scraps of any kind or open feed bucket. She has no shame. And obviously no thought of her waist line. Not pictured are Earp and Spook. Her faithful cliche. They can clear out a patch of bugs in 0 to 2 seconds flat but can be bribed with a loaf of bread. But be sure to wear closed toe shoes because they will try to eat them. Also they are afraid of Guin our solo guinea hen. She rules the roost.

Farm life seems like it can just be living one survival skill to another at times. We spend all day putting out fires so to speak and keeping everything alive. I spent years listening to others say Oh you don't want that, The work will kill you, That's not job with a future, But you can't make a living doing that, and my personal favorite is there enough money to be made as if the end of all everything can be equated to a dollar amount.
We make our bills and at times its tight because that's life. But nothing at all compares to seeing the maintenance crew coming around each afternoon and trimming the grass that grows around the porch. The sight of a newborn critter getting its legs figured out for the first time that pays out big. Because you see when God created Adam his task was simple name all the animals and care for them. God created the crops of the earth to nourish the living creatures including man but first we had to harvest it. Our connection to the land is more than financial, I believe that it is connected to our souls and that why when we are vacation slowing down and going barefoot on the beach even if you aren't a farmer by trade, you feel refreshed. It's the land healing you just a little for each moment that you are connected. In this land I am rich, I feel alive caring for the living things about me and that my friends gives me purpose. Now I just have to purposefully find those pesky dollar bills that seem so elusive to pay for the rest of life. And I will because I have purpose.
