We rolled back to the sugar shack late last night with a major upgrade for Keuka Maple! This (new to us) CDL Intens-O-Fire evaporator will allow us to be more productive while being more fuel efficient!

Still maintaining our roots and sticking with a wood fired evaporator, this larger rig is designed to handle more sap per hour and has a sophisticated gasification system that will cut down on wood consumption and seriously boost our efficiency!

Our old evaporator served us well for over 10 years, but it was time for it to move on to new young crew starting out in the maple world. ❤️🍁

One of the honey girls sporting the fall fashion of golden rod pollen! A forager bee’s job is to bring home pollen and nectar. The pollen is brought back on little “bags” on their legs and then unloaded by another specialist worker bee when they get back to the hive to be stored! 🐝🍯

It was a bee-utiful weekend to spend time to work on honey bee things! Made and painted more boxes, made more splits, grafted queens, and fortunately caught our own swarm as we happened to be there when it happened! We are happy to only have had one swarm as we have been working very hard to mitigate the risk. Everyone looks to be healthy, happy, and loving some long awaited nice weather!! 🍯🐝❤️
