What a day for Linear Appraisal! Of course, goats are gonna goat, so Carré decided to kick off the morning by going into labor!! She was 9 days after her due date waiting for the most inconvenient time possible, and what did she give me?? A single buckling. 🤦♀️ Fortunately, she did get things done in record time. We were later arriving than we wanted, but still in time for our original time slot.
I am soooo thrilled with our scores! Starting with the does, Fleur and Chéri both scored 79, their biggest flaws being things that should improve as they mature. I'm very happy with that for 16 month old first fresheners. 💗
Big Dream Acres BM *Magnolia scored VVVV89! The appraiser commented that she was very well blended and very proportionate. She's a petite doe at 18.5" and her width is proportionate to that.
Southern Grace Lady Liberty scored GEEE89! I love this girl so much! She's an absolute work horse. She wasn't blended as nicely as Magnolia, but had a lot of outstanding features.
The bucks also scored very well. Tiny Hill Lover's Moon scored GVE 87. He was OH by 1/2 inch. He has a very nice head, feet, back, & rump, but is quite posty in his rear legs.
BusyB Goat Farm DK Dark Moon scored AEE 83. He was also OH by 1 inch. His front end is much nicer than Lover's, but is is also posty in his rear legs and is starting to show a bit of arthritis which affected how he is holding his rump.
Last, but certainly not least, S.W.A.K. L Buttons scored GGV 85. Buttons isn't even approaching the height limit! 😄He was blended much better than the other boys and has a better shoulder assembly, but his head is much narrower and his rump a bit steep.
A huge thank you to Jayden Heathcott for having us over today, and for being willing to adjust when I thought we wouldn't make it in time for our planned slot.
