Ruby's is the oldest bar and grill on the boardwalk and is the ONLY place in Coney that you can still walk under the original boardwalk! With the Atlantic Ocean and beach in our front yard, a historic amusement park in our backyard and a bevy of traditional boardwalk shops and shows on either side of us, you can’t beat the view and ambiance at Ruby's! ssive collection of old-time photos and memorabilia; our award-winning jukebox; and original boardwalk wood from the 1920s scattered throughout. The boardwalk space that Ruby’s occupies has been a Coney Island tradition since 1934, when it started out as the Hebrew National Deli and Bar. We've been family owned and operated since we opened in 1972, and we are the only full-service bar and grill on the boardwalk with indoor seating. Our charm and infectious energy have earned us lots of attention: Ruby's has appeared on TV shows and in movies; was voted the 14th sexiest beach bar in the world by the Travel Channel; and was named best bar in Brooklyn in 1999, 2002 and 2005!

Yesterday was everything that makes Coney Island special—creativity, laughter, unforgettable costumes, old friends, new friends, and thousands of people coming together to celebrate one of New York’s most beloved traditions.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who stopped by Ruby’s Bar & Grill, shared a drink, grabbed a bite, took photos, danced, laughed, and made memories with us.

A huge thank you to our hardworking staff, the Mermaid Parade organizers, the performers, and every single person who helped make the day so special.

Today we celebrate freedom. ❤️🖤💚

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved African Americans that they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It became a day of remembrance, resilience, culture, and community, honoring the ongoing journey toward equality and justice.

At Ruby’s Bar & Grill, we’re proud to celebrate the spirit of Juneteenth here in the heart of Coney Island. As we gather by the sea, we honor the generations who fought for freedom and recognize the strength, creativity, and contributions of Black Americans that continue to shape our nation.

What we imagine the sadistic weather gods are gleefully cackling as they tick the boxes on their clipboard of calamity in anticipation of the next few days: "High humidity and temps around 100 degrees? Check! Frizzy hair frustration and deodorant fails? Check! Incessant sweat trickles, tickles and stains? Check!" ✅ But my, OH MY, will that glee lose its thrill when they remember their KRYPTONITE: legendary Ruby's Bar & Grill!
