If they can’t walk and steer, they can’t trot and steer.
If they can’t balance at the trot, they aren’t ready to canter.
If they can’t go catch their own horse, groom it, tack it up and take responsibility for it, how are they supposed to lead that horse from the saddle?

Going faster does not equal getting better. Strapping your kid to a horse and sending them into the arena isn’t making them better, it’s setting them up to get hurt.

You might think watching your kid walk circles isn’t exciting. You might think they should be cantering, jumping “doing more.”

But sometimes they’re simply not ready.

And respectfully — that’s why you hired an instructor. Because knowing how and when to progress a rider is our job.

We aren’t holding your kid back. We’re building the foundation that keeps them safe and makes them GOOD.

We’ve had a lot of rainy days lately ⛈️

Yesterday we packed a trailer full of horses and headed to the CCRC. Grateful for a wonderful facility that we can trailer to when our outdoor arena is a bit too muddy.

First State 4H Show ✔️

Every first year comes with victories, challenges, and lessons that can't be learned anywhere else.

This weekend was no exception.

Thank you to everyone who helped Hooves of Hope reach this milestone. Building a team isn't about having a perfect weekend - it's about continuing to grow, learn, and move forward together.

We're already looking ahead to next year. 💚🐴🍀

Special thanks to our team leader (Ashley Davis Williams), the club wouldn’t exist without her harassing me daily to agree to getting it started 😂 and to Amy Spruill Burnham who gave our team a showmanship bootcamp and helped us hunter girls survive our first 4H immersion (iykyk)

One more big thanks to our farrier, who met us in williamston to tack on shoes and again in raleigh to fix some loose ones.
