This Saturday is Catskill Yard Sale Day! It’s like Christmas for thrift store junkies. Basically a national holiday for some of us. To celebrate we’ll be hauling out our collection of books by former Northern Spy readers - a fire sale on these absolutely GEMS. Maybe some other random stuff from the storage room. Friends, this Thursday is our last soup night of 2026!!!! We are honored to support the work of , an org that establishes and manages local agricultural projects that help protect and promote the right of all people to healthy, culturally appropriate food. Their grassroots, participatory approach supports our right to define our own food systems.

What a soup night season it has been. We have raised more money than any previous year! Help us go out with a total BANG by showing up this Thursday to eat good soup with friends.

Major shout out to the incredible for donating bread EACH WEEK. Because what is soup without bread?! Friends, this is the stuff of life!

Why would you wash other people’s barrels?

I spent a few days with to learn, observe, and absorb. This has become an annual tradition for me—helping in the barn, playing with the cat. I get inspired and worried at the same time! To make cider as good as Autumn does you have to be obsessed and obsessive.

We are all lucky Eve’s is in NY making some of the best ciders in the world. (I think the best). I am particularly lucky to call them friends now and have used many things I learned there in our own cellar now. The cider community is thriving, especially with masters like these. - Tim

PS I stopped by to learn about Red red wine… and Autumn made her own coffin. I might start a psychedelic nursing home conscious death natural burial ground.

We’re extremely excited to introduce our new chef… Joanna! She’s been having a lot of fun in the kitchen coming up with new things for the spring menu—and if you’ve been in lately you might know what we’re talking about. She is also very passionate about making sure we have dessert on the menu. So, you’re welcome!!

First up we’ve been rolling out a punchy crunchy salad, some beautiful compound butters, a springy Caldo Verde soup, chocolate pudding with pink peppercorn meringue, with much more to come. Absolutely stoked, to say the least!!!

Happy birthday to our favorite tree climbing (and tree hugging) cidermaker. Always down to get lost in the woods (he never gets lost), pop a weird bottle, or spend too much money in a bookstore. We’d be lost without you, Tim. It’s sucks you were born in February but at least it gives us a reason to celebrate. Happy birthday!!!
