🥩🥩🥩Looking to stock your freezer with some fresh lamb? 🐑🐑🐑
New this year, we are offering whole and half lamb boxes, cut and wrapped, from our pastures to your freezer! We have a limited supply as we pilot this product! A whole lamb will be minimum of 50 lbs of meat, and the cost is $650 (half a lamb is also available). This works out to an average price per pound of $13. If you look around the grocery stores, you will recognize a good deal! Chico State students are involved in the care and management of these lambs from birth to harvest! Lamb is projected to be ready in August - we will share updates if you choose when you sign up!

Today was Hunter Ortiz’s last day as staff supervisor of the cheep unit! He has accepted a position in Davis and is leaving the Chico area! Herr is a farewell video we made! Please feel free to share your favorite Hunter stories as his next chapter starts!!!!

Congrats to Adela Aguilar on exhibiting the reserve champion 4-H speck/whiteface! Her lamb is sired by Ahart 399 and out of a Drain the Swamp ewe! Congratulations!!

As the spring 2026 semester has closed out, we say goodbye to our graduates and prepare for incoming students!

Oh - and we have lambs for late summer/fall fairs available! Priced reasonably, come take a look and see what works for you!

WOOHOO! Congratulations to our graduating senior and lead shepherd, Sophia Benitez! She is graduating from Chico State with honors in Animal Science. I (Celina) remember when Sophia came up to me at FFA Conference and told me she was coming to Chico State and wanted to work at the sheep unit - so glad we got her involved. She plans to head to New Mexico State and work towards a Master's degree in Animal Science. Fiercely independent and hard working, Sophia has left a lasting impression after her 4 years at the Patton Family Sheep Unit at Chico State! She has lived the Chico State motto of "Do and Dare".

We will be finishing up with our private treaty lambs this afternoon. Those that have reached out will be sent a link to view over the weekend before we post publicly. Prices will range from 400-maybe 700.

This will include private treaty and Reno Nugget All American Sheep Show and Sale over Memorial Day Weekend! Ewes and wethers, wether sheep and Southdowns!

All lambs will be pre-priced. We believe strongly in transparency with prices.
