Found on the farm, June edition: big toms!!!! Thanks to our 3 year old for pointing them out. Scapes! We don’t sell our own garlic but we do sell the scapes. Perfect radishes. Almost never seen around here but we celebrate when they show up.

Spring on the farm actually means summer on the farm when you have high tunnels, only the weather is more fickle and we don’t have eggplant yet (raise your hand if you’re an eggplant fan too!). The crops we’re harvesting are usually indicative of early summer (cauliflower, broccolini, cucumbers, a few peppers and cherry tomatoes, cucumbers…) but there are still plenty of cold rainy days. I’m still enjoying the calm before the storm.

We’ve made it to 10 years! Wahoo!!

On May 5, 2016, Spencer and I rolled into Clark Fork with all of our worldly possessions and quite literally started building- a house and a farm business.

Fast forward to 2026 and we have 5 amazing crew members, 4 beautiful and bursting high tunnels, 3 incredible children, 2 robust income streams (wholesale and retail) and 1 farm business that we’re so proud of.

We’re so glad you’re on this ride with us!

Aaaaand just like that we’re at full crew (missing two in the pic) and it’s the SAME crew as last season! We count ourselves incredibly lucky to have five kind, humorous, incredibly hard working folks (who are also great with our kids!) who want to work with us for more than one year- some of them are on year four. Thank you thank you to our farm crew and all farm crews out there; the good real food we produce wouldn’t be possible without you.

If you’re ever wondering who’s behind our account and who exactly is packing your orders each week, it’s me! Katherine. Our entire farm is run by real people, a family in fact, and a bunch of amazing employees (who are also real people!). No HR department or web team or fulfillment centers over here, just real, honest, hardworking people who want to make the highest quality food easily available to you!

It’s tulip time over here! It’s a special little niche product we grow to give our customers some blooms before anything is blooming outside. They might not make us much money but we all adore them and we love seeing customers’ faces light up when they pick up a bunch. Snag a bunch in our online store this weekend!

Farm update! We’re planting rapidly to take advantage of the longer day length of spring and our protected tunnel space. Many of the crops we’re growing currently are for sale to our online store customers but we’ve sown the seeds for a fruitful summer CSA season!

We still have some spots open and if you find yourself itching for the first fruits of summer, know that we are known for the earliest tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers around! Visit www.moosemeadoworganic.com to sign up!

I don’t think I’ve ever (ever, in close to 20 farming seasons) seen garlic up this high in March. There’s a sense of unease about unpredictable weather for sure, but still, the first plants popping up out of the ground gets me giddy every time.

This crop! Anyone know it? It’s Claytonia, and it’s a workhorse in our unheated winter tunnels. There is no cold temperature that will kill it in our experience and it’s incredibly weighty and juicy. We grow it from transplants, 4 clusters of plants across a 30” bed top and 6” in row spacing. We start it in August for harvests October through March (when it starts to flower and we don’t want it as a w**d so we pull it out!). Enjoy it in our winter salad mix for the next few weeks!
