Rainy weather provides a great opportunity to do some cleaning in the shop. A task that will never be completely done, at least not in our lifetime. While cleaning out a shelf, we came across this gem. The miscellaneous hardware inside the bread bag was for a baler that is long gone, so the bag itself was of far more value.
I recognized the label immediately from my childhood. With eight hungry farm kids to feed, there were countless bread bags like this that came and went in the Lahr household. No doubt some of these bread bags were used to keep liners dry in the snow boots of that era. The goods produced at the Cold Spring Bakery are still hugely popular in our home. This bag will find a new home with other keepsakes, but it brought to mind how much things change, and how much they stay the same.
