3rd cup of coffee before heading out to finish picking produce for today's market.

Schools starts this coming week for lots of kids. Fill their lunch boxes with local, nutrient dense foods that will prepare their minds and bodies for learning. Cherry tomatoes, sliced peppers, tiny tacos with micro greens, egg sandwiches, and of course we have sweet treats too. Soaps for those teens who haven't figured out hygiene yet 🤣🤣

Shout out to our many many shoppers today! It was the busiest the market has been lately.

This market started after reading many many requests for a town market. It is organized and run by farmers with amazing support from TLC Mini Storage & Landscaping Services . Without you it's just a bunch of us standing around some tomatoes and lettuce 🤣

Spread the word, there are like 5 markets left in the season. Shop local, meet your Coventry farmers, and eat healthy!

Check out these unique zebra potatoes Serendipity Farm RI will have at the market today. Great for potato salad, grilling and more.

As always we will have eggs, micro greens, baked goods, meats and more.

Serendipity Farm RI is spearheading the "Take a pumpkin, Leave a pumpkin" at town hall again this year. We have town permission to bring this little bit of joy to those who maybe can't afford a festive fall decor. They have a bunch of pumpkins growing, which will be donated for free.

They are also planning on purchasing more from other local farms so there is abundance. If you'd like to donate a few bucks they will have a can at their table for the remaining markets to donate. You are also welcome to directly purchase and leave a pumpkin at "the patch" which will go up around October 1st.

If you or anyone you know would benefit from a small community token of fall fun let them know the patch is at town hall/library, again around Oct. 1st. I will post on the Coventry page when it's set up.

Did you know that prep for the market for most of our vendors takes days?

That's besides the growing. Harvesting, washing, packaging. All to bring you the freshest, nutrient dense products possible.

With all the talk in town of keeping local farms going here are some simple action steps:
1- shop local, at the farmers market or a roadside stand
2- volunteer at the market or conservation commission or on a local farm
3- spread the word about the market or farms in town when people ask where to get product. Word of mouth is #1 in a local economy.
4- write to your local councilor and ask them to make Coventry a right to farm town or a right to feed yourself town (for those wondering on that check out what Maine is doing, it's phenomenal and is all about personal freedom which I think we can all get behind)
5- See how you can help at the town community garden, I know there have been a few posts looking.

Market is open! Come on down for all sorts of goodies. Our bread vendor had to cancel last minute due to exhaustion 🫣 not surprised baking in this heat, but we have lots of produce, meats and eggs.
