USDA Rural Development just announced they are making $150 million of American Rescue Plan Act funding available through the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP). USDA is offering grants of up to $25 million each to expand processing capacity through a variety of activities, including but not limited to construction, expansion of existing facilities, and acquisition of equipment. USDA will host two informational webinars to provide information on MPPEP. The first, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. EST, will provide an overview of the program. The second, March 7 at 2 p.m. EST, will cover application requirements. For additional information, applicants and other interested parties are encouraged to visit the MPPEP website: www.rd.usda.gov/mppep. Questions may be submitted through the website or sent to [email protected]. Proposals are due April 11, 2022 through www.Grants.gov. National: Through the Food Supply Chain Guaranteed Loan Program, USDA will partner with lenders to guarantee loans of up to $40 million to help eligible entities expand meat and poultry processing capacity and finance other food supply chain infrastructure. Kentucky growers! Kentucky rolls out processing grant program. Including...

โ€œUSDA-inspected processors or those actively planning to become USDA-inspected may be eligible for the Large-Scale Processing Expansion (Level 3) investments. Processors interested in making extensive facility improvements to process more Kentucky meat products can receive up to $250,000 in funding.

Applicants for New Facilities (Level 4) can receive up to $250,000 in funding for USDA inspected facility development. A site visit by an advisory team specialist is required for Level 4.โ€

Everyone else, check with your state Ag Dept to see if you have similar opportunities.
