Because superior food by definition must follow natural patterns of diverse animals on perennial polyculture pastures. Because superior food must be sold to local, appreciative consumers who understand the health and land consequences of their food choices. Because poultry is the easiest of the food animals to raise on pasture being 7-weeks quick, safe for children, highly beneficial to soil fertility. Because of the paucity of inspected poultry processing facilities Plant in a Box has been created. It is our belief that a strong resurgence in regional processing will ensue.

The American Pastured Poultry Producers Association (APPPA) is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to encouraging the production, processing, marketing, and purchasing of poultry raised on pasture. We believe that pastured poultry is the ideal model for producing environmentally, emotionally, and economically sensible poultry. Our mission is to feed local communities with uniquely nutritious, delicious, and humanely-raised chicken, eggs, turkey, ducks, geese, and guineas.
