Mother’s Day calls for something thoughtful, useful, and beautifully done. It can also be a tender time, and we wanted to approach it with that in mind.

This year, we are offering a small collection of Mother’s Day items to help you celebrate the women you love. Among them is babka, a beautiful braided bread whose name, we discovered, means “grandmother.”

We were also intentional about finding women-owned businesses to feature. From Austin, we found beautiful handmade toffees, and we partnered with Becky at Le Gourmet to offer a gift pairing we are especially pleased to share: a beautifully boxed set of cookies paired with an À Table gift card. Your gift will be delivered to you on Wednesday, May 6, so you can offer something beautifully wrapped and ready to give on Mother’s Day. While a digital gift card is always an easy option, there is something more personal about pairing one with something lovely to unwrap and enjoy.

We have been giving thoughtful attention to our breakfast section, especially at a time when so much nutritional advice encourages a higher protein intake, particularly in the morning.

This week, we are adding High-Protein Green Chile and Chorizo Egg Bites: pasture-raised eggs blended with cottage cheese and baked with house-made chorizo, roasted green chiles, and a blend of Jack and cheddar cheeses.

They provide 24.5g of protein per 2 bites, and each order comes with 4 egg bites.

Beyond the protein, ingredient quality matters just as much to us. Chorizo is one more example of something we prefer to make in-house. Ready-made versions can often contain additives, preservatives, fillers, excess sugar, and lower-quality meat trimmings used to extend shelf life and standardize flavor. Ours is made with pasture-raised pork and a spice blend we balance ourselves, for a cleaner ingredient list and a more honest flavor.

Women do not wait for a ceasefire. They sit at the same table and share tea.

Sara is Iranian, and I am Lebanese. She carries Iran within her; I carry Lebanon within me. Our roots are deep, our identities dear, our histories complex.

And yet, when nations fight, women still know how to gather. We pour tea. We listen. We laugh. We make room for affection where the world makes room for division.

There is something profoundly beautiful in that.

This is one of the gifts of the United States: that it can be a meeting place. A place where friendship can grow across borders, religions, and conflicts. A place that reminds us that love is also a form of resistance.

Today, I am grateful for that.

Easter is one of the most joyful holidays of all.

From soft spring colors to the playful tradition of cracking eggs in Levantine homes, it is a celebration that somehow turns adults into children again. After a long Lent, Easter arrives with beauty, abundance, hope, and the profound joy of the Resurrection.

Perhaps that is also why I love Easter food so much at À Table. It has a special way of bringing together tradition, generosity, and the joyful pleasure of a colorful, delicious table.

One of your favorites is back: the Breakfast Salad. Made with pasture-raised eggs, organic arugula, radishes, asparagus, roasted Yukon potatoes, pepitas, and finished with a lemon vinaigrette. It is a lovely way to start the day on a fresh, nourishing note.

In Lebanon, as in other Orthodox Christian countries such as Greece and parts of Eastern Europe, the tradition of breaking dyed Easter eggs is deeply woven into family life.

After the Easter meal, each person selects a dyed hard-boiled egg, and the competition begins: eggs are tapped against one another until only one remains uncracked. Often dyed in traditional ways, including with onion skins, the eggs carry with them both beauty and memory.

Yet the custom is more than a game. In Orthodox Christian symbolism, the egg represents new life, and the cracking of its shell evokes the Resurrection and the opening of the tomb.

There is also something meaningful in the way traditions like these are carried forward, often by women, through the quiet but powerful work of preserving identity, culture, and memory across generations.

Since moving to Dallas in 2018, I have kept this tradition alive in our home, with our friends, cracking eggs each Easter and crowning one happy winner every year.
