Our family has been raising beef for four generations. In 2016, we moved from Idaho to Alaska, bringing with us a tradition of raising quality beef and a commitment to producing food for Alaska families.

Today, we raise Alaska-grown beef right here in Alaska, all year long.

Our beef doesn’t come from the Lower 48 and get shipped north. It’s Alaska-grown beef, raised by our family, right here at home.

🥩 Alaska Grown vs. Alaska Harvested: What’s the Difference?

When shopping for meat, you may see labels such as “Alaska grown” or “Alaska harvested.” They sound similar, but they describe two different parts of the process.

Alaska grown meat comes from an animal that was raised in Alaska by an Alaska farmer or rancher. Buying Alaska-grown meat supports the local producers who provide the land, feed, care, labor, and resources needed to raise that animal here.

Alaska harvested meat was butchered or processed in Alaska. The animal may have been raised here, or it may have been raised elsewhere and brought to Alaska for processing. “Alaska harvested” tells you where the animal was butchered—not necessarily where it was raised.

Both local producers and Alaska meat cutters and processors play important roles in bringing food to our tables. Farmers and ranchers raise the animals, while skilled processors harvest, prepare, package, and help make the meat available to consumers. Each contribution matters.
