Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc.

Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. Lothlorien TRC is dedicated to assisting individuals to develop their highest potential through therapeutically based equine activities.

Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center (LTRC) was established in 1983 to provide horsemanship and horseback riding opportunities for individuals of all ages with cognitive, physical, emotional and learning disabilities. Since 1986, Lothlorien has owned and operated our present facility which is located just outside of the Village of East Aurora, New York. The goal of our program is to provide a safe

and enjoyable environment for individuals to experience the benefits of horseback riding and horsemanship skills. The facilities at LTRC are designed to accommodate riders with disabilities. Through the use of special mounting ramps, a wide variety of adaptive equipment and the cooperation of our trusted, loyal and specially-trained horses, LTRC has been able to meet the needs of the population we serve while maintaining strict safety guidelines. Programs at LTRC are conducted by trained instructors and over 200 trained volunteers dedicated to providing the highest quality programs for individuals. The facility consists of four pastures, a 13-stall barn, a large outdoor riding arena, a newly expanded indoor riding arena with new footing, a new tack room, activity room and hay barn, and an office and residence for the Equine Caretaker. The stalls, tack room and hay barn were all recently renovated and the indoor ring was resurfaced with recycled rubber playmat chips. LTRC is located on approximately ten acres surrounded by trees in a secluded, tranquil setting. As you enter our facility, you'll find white picket fences on both sides providing a great view of our team of horses!

🌞 Hot weather is here!

A quick reminder as we head into summer:
• Long pants are required
• Lessons may be moved off-horse when temperatures exceed 85°F, depending on heat, humidity, and other weather conditions.
• Bring a water bottle (or use ours!)
• Wear sunscreen
• Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes only (no Crocs or sandals)

Even on hot days, long pants are important for rider safety and comfort, they help prevent chafing, pinching, bug bites, and scrapes.

Thank you for helping us stay safe in the summer heat! ☀️🐴

Huge thank you to the students from East Aurora High School who spent their Spring Service Learning Day with us yesterday! 🌿🌷

The girls tackled everything from organizing lesson props and revamping whiteboards to grooming horses, sweeping ramps, de-cobwebbing, stacking hay, and more. Safe to say the “girl power” energy was strong, and our barn has never looked better! 💪✨

And of course, Peep made sure to supervise every project from a very close distance… because no barn task should ever happen without her approval.
