One of my recipes that never fails to bring back the memory of my first time making it.
My mama taught me a lot in the kitchen and still does to this day, but this memory actually belongs to my best friend’s mom. I was in my early 20’s and had volunteered to bring a dessert to the next craft night. With my mama still living in Mount Airy I turned to one of the other most important women in my life, my best friend’s mom.
Together we found a recipe for Butter Pecan Cupcakes and I remember looking at her and asking “why can’t we just make it from a box”, to which she laughed. This sweet woman doesn’t believe in making things from a box. So together, on a Thursday night, she patiently taught me what “egg peaks” are and how to properly “fold” batter.
I have made this recipe many times since then, but it never fails to bring a smile to my face and have the memory run across my mind ♥️
