I am asked all the time which Microgreens are best to help me with this health issue or which Microgreen is the healthiest or has the most health benefits, etc.

I have put together a list of several different varieties of Microgreens, what they taste like, what their nutritional benefits are and what they taste like.

How to use and care for your Microgreens

How to use and care for your living Microgreens.

A lot of Microgreens are sold already cut, but we sell our Microgreens living. We sell them this way for one main reason.

Living Microgreens have the most nutrition possible. As soon as Microgreens are cut, they start to lose nutritional value. So, if you can cut them and use them right away, they will have more nutrition.

Living Microgreens are a lot of fun, they are more nutritious than pre-cut Microgreens, they are super fun to have on your counter and help to brighten even the gloomiest winter day.

In 4-6(ish) more weeks and we will have some amazing pasture-raised, organic, heritage breed meat birds for sale. We are taking pre-orders. The birds will be $5 per pound (after processing weight) and will require a $10 deposit per bird. They will average 3-5 pounds per bird.
If you are wanting to reserve any please contact us and we will set up payment arrangements. There are a limited number available and they will sell out fast!

Kim and I just got home a few hours ago from Virginia where we attended the Conference.
This was our first time attending and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!!!
We were surrounded by 5,000+ people that are all like minded and the speakers are some of the most revered and respected in their field.
This guy, , is amazing! We have visited his farm in Virginia and I will listen to information he puts out! We listened to him speak about The 7 Things That Stop People From Homesteading and I also attended his meat bird butchering demonstration. Awesome!

Things that used to be basic life skills are now barely known by most people. Gardening, farming, cooking, preserving, foraging all used to be family activities. The entire family was involved. Parents passed on vital skills to their children...generation after generation.
Now we have at least 2 generations that don’t have any of these skills. We need to change that!
The more self reliant we are, the less supply shortages will affect us. (Food, fuel, energy, water)

First day on grass for these chicks. They are able to peck, scratch and forage. They have fresh water and supplemental organic feed available. Their structure is moved daily to new grass. This way they can be on pasture and be protected from predators 24/7.

FALL FESTIVAL?
It looks like we’re going to have lots of pumpkins, gourds, winter squash (spaghetti, acorn, butternut), sunflowers and maybe even Indian corn!
Would you be interested in coming out to the farm this fall? You could pick out your own pumpkin, have some hot cider or coffee (maybe pumpkin spice creamer), check out the farm, get some winter squash and hang out with us for a while.

We picked peaches today. We have 2 trees but one of them is small and not growing well. All these peaches came off of one tree!
We will freeze most of them and can a few also. It was definitely a good year for our peach tree.
So thankful for the harvest we’ve had so far. I got some things planted late, but everything is growing nicely and it looks like we will have a nice harvest.

This is National Farmers Market Week! Almost all of us have a farmers market nearby, if you don’t know of one near you, get online and search for one, you might be surprised!
Your local farmers market could be any day of the week. The Bourbon Farmers Market is Tuesday evenings, 6-8pm. The market is Saturday morning 8am-Noon.
Those are just 2 of the markets local to us, but there are literally hundreds more just down the road.
Make plans to come out this week to check out your local market and support your local farmers!

The container cucumbers are almost ready!
I fed them yesterday with fish fertilizer from . It’s easy to use. I will feed my container garden plants about every 3 weeks during the growing season.

A new batch of meat birds arrived this morning!
We have been using heritage breeds instead of the hybrid birds. It takes these birds longer to get to a good butcher weight, but they are able to forage and enjoy the pasture whereas the hybrid meat birds tend to have health issues and sometimes grow so fast their legs can’t support their weight. I’m not bashing the hybrid birds, just explaining that we prefer the heritage breeds.
These little guys will be ready in 12-16 weeks.
