From the Ram Country Meats production floor to weekend backpacks across Colorado!

We’re grateful for the partnership with Beef Sticks for Backpacks and the opportunity to contribute to a program working to help fight childhood hunger in our communities.

Ever wonder what goes home in a weekend backpack?
While this isn't an exact example and items vary week to week, the focus is on shelf-stable meals, snacks, and a beef stick with 8 grams of protein.
Protein is one of the hardest and most expensive items for food banks to source.
Our goal is to make sure every hungry kid in Colorado gets a beef stick each weekend.

Livestock & Carcass Evaluation Summer Highlights 🏆

This year, our Livestock & Carcass Evaluation Team expanded into a summer internship program!

The internship was led by Master’s graduate student Alie Lock, with undergraduate interns Aislinn McPeek and Morgan Nicklaus.
Together, the team hit the road and had an incredible summer traveling across Colorado!

Summer by the numbers:
📍 17 counties visited
🏆 21 total contests
🐄 1,380 live animals scanned
🥩 115 carcasses evaluated
🚙 5,500+ miles traveled

A huge thank you to all of the 4-H members, families, Extension offices, volunteers, and county programs who welcomed our team and helped make this summer such a success! We truly enjoyed connecting with so many communities across Colorado and watching participants grow their knowledge of livestock and carcass evaluation.

🐖HOGS NEEDED FOR CSU CLASS 🐖

Ram Country Meats (RCM) is looking for market hogs to process for our Live Animal and Carcass Evaluation Class at Colorado State University.

In this class, students will evaluate the hogs as live animals, learning to distinguish muscling and fatness. After harvest, students will evaluate the same animals as carcasses and learn about muscling, fat, quality grade, and yield grade.

When: 3 consecutive Mondays, beginning October 5th
Delivery: Approximately 7:00 AM each Monday
Where: Ram Country Meats, CSU

Hog owners have two options:
• Your hogs would be used for class, then we would process your hogs.
• Sell your hogs to Ram Country Meats
