This year marks the 50th anniversary of the historic Judgment of Paris—a moment that forever changed the way the world viewed American wine. 🍷

We’re honored to share a long-standing grower relationship with the Bacigalupi family, whose Russian River Valley vineyards have played an iconic role in that story. In 1976, a Napa Valley Chardonnay from Château Montelena—crafted with Bacigalupi fruit—stunned the wine world, earning top honors over some of France’s most celebrated wines.

Today, that same block of Chardonnay still thrives, carefully tended by the Bacigalupi family, whose 65+ years of dedication to grape growing continue to shape some of Sonoma and Napa’s most respected wines—including our own Bacigalupi Vineyard Chardonnay and Zinfandel.

Here’s to a legacy rooted in excellence, and to the growers who helped put California wine on the global stage. 🥂

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

We’re proud to have our Associate Winemaker, Paul Kochever, caring for our estate beehive—an important part of maintaining a healthy, balanced ecosystem here at Dutcher Crossing. These tiny pollinators play a big role in supporting the vines, gardens, and surrounding landscape we call home.

After last year’s harvest, Winemaker Nick Briggs even created a small batch of estate truffle honey—a sweet reflection of the land and the incredible work of our bees.

Cheers to 14 years with our incredible winemaker, Nick! 🍷

Nick’s passion for wine started early, inspired by family friends crafting wine in their garage—and it’s been a remarkable journey ever since. Around here, we like to say it takes a lot of great beer to make great wine… and Nick has that figured out perfectly.

When he’s not in the cellar creating wines we love, you’ll find him at home with his family cooking up something delicious using ingredients from their garden, caring for their chickens and lambs (with a little help from his daughter in FFA 🐑), or hitting the road in their pop-up trailer to explore California.

And when there’s a little downtime? A Peloton ride is always calling.

May is Melanoma Awareness Month, a cause that is deeply personal to the Dutcher family.

Just three months before Debra purchased Dutcher Crossing, she lost her father, Charles F. Mathy, to melanoma. In his honor, we created our CFM wine—a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon—with 100% of proceeds dedicated to melanoma research.

It’s a meaningful way we can continue his legacy while supporting efforts to raise awareness, advance research, and move closer to a cure.

We invite you to join us in honoring his memory and supporting this important cause. 💛
