You guys remember the huge Great Dane rescue that was all over the news recently? Saving so many dogs is an incredible undertaking—but caring for all those sweet babies takes a whole lot of resources. Food, vet care, supplies, and shelter don't just magically appear.

That's why I'm excited to support a fundraiser this Saturday at The Local in Downtown Grain Valley. When they asked if I'd be willing to donate, the answer was an easy yes.

We've had to say goodbye to both of our elderly dogs in the last nine months, so I know firsthand the financial cost and emotional investment that comes with loving and caring for animals. Although, to be fair, neither of ours was anywhere near Great Dane size... even if you combined them. 😆

I'll be donating a six-month sourdough subscription (because six months of fresh bread sounds pretty great to me!), along with several loaves of course.

If you're free Saturday, stop by and support a fantastic organization doing important work. And if you've never been to The Local, consider this your excuse—the burgers are amazing!

Don’t worry. I roasted the garlic. A LOT of it. Like burning my eyes, will be coming out of my pores for days a lot. 🧄

Also added Butterscotch Cookies on the menu after ordering had already opened yesterday. Because I want them. 🤤 So if you ordered early (good job you!), know that those were a late menu addition. I won’t judge if you have 2 orders in one week!

All the staples today. Kept the menu simple this weekend to give myself a little prep time for the coming weeks. Plain Artisan Loaves, Rustic Blueberry Scones, Sandwich Loaves. Not pictured are the (to die for) Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Hey friend. Yeah…we’re friends. Whether you realize it or not, we are. 🤎

If you’re here…if you’ve bought bread from my Porch…if you’ve seen me stocking loaves at 7:45am with no makeup, a topknot hanging on for dear life, running purely on caffeine and chaos throwing out F bombs…we’re friends.

If we’ve chatted at the Historic Downtown Liberty Farmers' Market.
If you’ve taken Sourdough 101 (and survived my occasional French 😉).
If you’ve ever stopped me in a store with, “Wait…aren’t you The Bread Lady?”
Hell yeah I am.

I got this message from someone I’ve never even met in person, and honestly, it made my whole day. Because this right here is what I’m all about.

Yes, I bake bread. A lot of bread. But this has become so much more than sourdough. It’s community. It’s connection. It’s friendships formed over carbs, porch pickups, market chats, and messy real life.

I’m not polished. My posts aren’t perfectly curated. Half the time I’m winging it. Ok, most of the time. But what you see here is me—perfectly imperfect and genuinely grateful for every single one of you.

So hey, friend…thanks for being here. 🤎

The moment you wait for each week… or at least I like to think you eagerly anticipate what I’ll be baking next!

This week’s menu is very simple.
Boring? Maybe.
Delicious? Absolutely.

Are you disappointed there’s no cheese involved? Possibly.
Do I care? Not really. Because honestly… simple sounds pretty amazing right now.

There’s no need to worry, cheesy and garlicky goodness will be back soon. I’ve got roughly 1435 heads of garlic to roast. And about 10 blocks of Tillamook in the fridge to be chopped. Simple menu for this weekend equals time to prep for the coming weeks.

Preorders go this weekend’s pickups close at 8pm Wednesday. Porch Stand will be open by 8am Saturday for you all that forget to order. 🤎
