Nellie has a way of reminding me to slow down. ❤️

No rush. No worries. Just green grass, fresh air, and a happy Highland heifer enjoying the day.

Sometimes the best reminder to be thankful comes from the simplest things. 🐮🌿

Today, take a few minutes, sit quietly, and appreciate all the blessings around you. Nellie certainly is. 💕

Daisy has officially forgotten she’s a pig. 🐷➡️🐶

The shyest piglet when she arrived is now the farm’s self-appointed attention manager. If I stop petting her, she immediately nudges me like a puppy and demands that I continue my duties.

Personal space? Never heard of it.
Boundaries? Not interested.
Attention? All of it. 😂

It’s amazing what a little patience, kindness, and a few belly rubs can do.

I’d say she’s settled in just fine. ❤️

Spa Day at 5R Family Farm 🐷✨

The girls booked themselves in for a deluxe mud treatment this morning.

✔️ Cooling facial
✔️ Full-body mud wrap
✔️ Relaxation therapy

Daisy, Daphne, and Dally give this spa experience 5 stars and highly recommend it. 😂

While it might look messy to us, mud helps pigs stay cool, protects their skin from the sun, and keeps pesky bugs away.

Happy pigs = muddy pigs. ❤️

Who else thinks muddy piglets are adorable?

Nala + Nellie 🐮

Our beautiful Highland heifers with the fluffiest coats, sweetest faces, and enough personality to keep us smiling every single day.

These girls may look tough with those horns, but they’re really just oversized teddy bears with fabulous hair. 😂

Pretty sure they know they’re gorgeous too. 🌾✨

Meet Dudley, Dally, Daisy and Daphne!

Finally figuring out who is who with each little different spot and markings.

These guys are so friendly and comical! I just love watching them run and those ears floppin’!

This is our boar we kept back out of our boar Romeo (TGF Triton K1850) and our sow Pansy (DA Pepper K0858).

He is 4 months old and I am really liking how he is turning out! Nice thick muscular body, great hams, beautiful shoulders and a nice upturn snout!
He also loves his belly rubs like his daddy. Super sweet boar!

Excited to see what he can bring to the farm!
We kept him in case Romeo can’t breed this fall after his back accident. He’s still not 100% back to his normal self.

I am currently calling this boy Triton, but Andy hates the name so might have to come up with a new one!

Nellie wasn’t too sure about sharing her space with the pigs 🤣

There is a fence line between them but she still was giving her the stink eye!

But they sure have a beautiful view!

Yesterday we moved Georgia and Penelope to the back pasture and Penelope was pretty excited to have a nice cold wallow waiting for her.
She spent several hours just soaking in her “tub”.
Penelope is one of my favorite sows. She’s so easy to move, is a great mama and loves her humans.

We weaned Georgia’s piglets yesterday and surprisingly no one was too upset about it. Her piglets are 6 1/2 weeks old and will start going to their new homes next weekend.
Four barrows will be staying here on the farm to raise out for customers that will be processed in February.

The piggies enjoying some watermelon 🍉 on the hot summer day!

They have really started warming up to us!
They now hear my voice and come out of the a frame looking for me!

Going to be in the 80°’s this weekend so the wallows will be full and ready for their splash pad!

They are here and they are perfect!

We spent the day after getting back from our Missouri trip, setting up the hot wire and putting a perimeter fence around the hot wire for the new piggies.
These guys are not hot wire trained, but hoping they figure it out soon! It was hard watching them yesterday learning. 🙃

This morning they are a little cautious with us, which is expected I guess… they did just travel 2000 miles and are in a completely different home.

I have cameras up everywhere out there to keep an eye on them.

Back to the grind! We are exhausted after that long drive! We need a week to recoup from our quick trip!
