Flashover farm

10/08/2026

We would like to introduce GRT Leonardo. Aka Leo to the flashover fold. Leo is a 4 or old perfect gentleman. He will be our 5th registured herd sire. We look forward to seeing what he produces in the future.

All the girls should be bred by a black son of midnight that was not registered. His offspring will either be sold as pasture pets or held for beef.

Thank you to Shawn and Jess Mcphail of Great Scott's Highland ranch for making this possible.

So we did a thing today. We got in the car and drove west to custer wa. To visit Great scott's highlands. We want to thank Shawn and Jess for their time sharing their animals.

We are happy to announce that in a few weeks we will have a new herd sire for the farm.

This big boy grt Leonardo will join our fold and begin a new generation of animals for us.

Stay turned for more.

We are happy to announce that the 2026 honey season has come to an end. All frames have been extracted and I am finishing up with running it all thru the filter screen to get it nice and ready for us to sell once we finish up with our 2025 harvest.

This year we ended up with 16 hives here on the property. With that, they are all looking well stocked for winter. We were able to harvest about 180 lbs of honey. This is about 100 lbs less then 2025 but the hives are much better prepared for winter.

We still have plenty of comb honey available if you are looking for something different.

Honey is available here at the farm. Price is 12.00 a pound. Bring us a jar and save the cost of buying one.

A pint Mason jar hold about 1.5 lbs and a quart is 3 lbs.

I can fill any container.

Just an interesting picture from the farm. Went out to do chores last night and found this hen perched on the rail. That by itself is not abnormal. It was when I noticed the other faces staring at me from her feet that it got interesting.

These little chick's are just a couple weeks old and are normally running behind mom as she wanders around the hoop house. This rail is 3 feet high.

Along with all our quacks, this is the first time in 12 years that we have had chick's hatched out. The funny part is we have 2 sets of 4 that are about a week apart.

Hope everyone enjoys this holiday weekend with friends and family. The weather isn't cooperating for all the outside events going on that's for sure.

Life on a farm....

Finally got into this swarm trap, and good thing I did. This thing was full and needed to be moved. Started with the nuc box but ended up making a split and used a deep box. This trap is extra deep so there is comb on the bottom that I left that had honey and brood.

I didn't see the queen so she is either in the split or still in the trap. Guess we will know in a week when we check the deep box.
