❤️Brock Appreciation Post❤️
Not many wethers get to stick around this long in a herd, but Brock is a forever goat.
From the moment he was born it was clear that he was special. Not just because he was among the very first goats born on our NC farm over 8 years ago, nor because of his impressive size.
Brock was born with a peaceful, calm energy about him that is virtually unwavering. Even as a baby, while his twin brother Brick was chasing girls and ducking under fences, Brock never once caused trouble. He has always been a sweet, kind boy at heart.
By the time he reached adulthood it was evident that all the other goats respected him and would follow his lead. He constantly proves his worth, even as a non-breeding member of the herd. He settles disputes, shows the kids how to play nicely, leads the herd to the best grazing spots, and comforts the ladies when they are in heat or suffering through pregnancy.
Brock is arguably the most important member of our herd, because he leads by benevolent example and spreads a calming vibe for all the other goats. I think this is a role that is under appreciated in most livestock operations, and if it wasn’t for Brock I may never have realized that myself.
