Just a bunch of cows hanging out, eating some grass, and patiently waiting for their new GPS fence collars. 🐄🌱

Okay, patiently might be a stretch... but we like to think they're excited. 😂

These collars are part of an exciting two-year trial in collaboration with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The goal is to explore how virtual fencing technology can help us manage our cattle and grazing even more effectively.

Instead of relying solely on traditional fencing, GPS technology allows us to create virtual boundaries and move the herd to fresh pasture without putting up and taking down physical fence. That means more flexibility in how we manage grazing and could give us another tool to support healthy pastures and regenerative farming practices. 🌱

For now, though, the cows are just enjoying a little snack while they wait for their new accessories to arrive. 😉

🍂 Fall Pasture Walk is coming! 🌱

Come spend an afternoon at Spring House Farm and see regenerative farming in action!

Join us on Sunday, September 13th at 3 PM for a guided walk through the pastures. We’ll talk about rotational grazing, soil health, livestock management, pasture recovery, and how healthy land leads to healthy animals and better food.

It’s a chance to ask questions, meet the animals, explore the farm, and connect with the people behind your food. 🐄🐑

And before or after the walk, stop by our farmers market stand to stock up on your favorite Spring House Farm products!

We have some big news to share! As our own Amelia prepares to begin her next great adventure, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate her journey at Spring House Farm and the special place she holds in our farm family.

It has been such a privilege for all of us to watch Amelia grow up right before our eyes. We still smile when we think about those mornings when she was just six years old, bottle-feeding cold, newborn calves in front of the wood stove while watching Finding Nemo. From those early days of nurturing new life to teaching our butchery classes, preparing our weekly financial reports, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with her dad to deliver troubled calves and piglets—Amelia has worn every hat imaginable!

Amelia is more than just an amazing young lady; she has been the heart of this family and this farm. When we asked her what she would miss most about her time at SHF, she didn't hesitate: “The customers.” She treasures the connections she’s made with all of you who share her deep-rooted passion for the great food we produce.

As she moves on to the School of Agriculture at Penn State, while working at the school’s butcher shop and embarking on her journey with the Naval ROTC program, our hearts are bursting with pride. We will miss her spirit, her dedication, and her smile every single day.

Amelia, the farm won't be the same without you, but we know you are destined for incredible things. We can't wait to see where this next chapter takes you!

Today, we’re saying goodbye to someone who has become a very special part of the Spring House Farm family. 💚

Today is John’s last day with us as he heads off to Virginia Tech to pursue his studies in the School of Agriculture!

John has been part of our team for over two years, and during that time, he has been an incredible asset to our operation. From working at the farm store, to representing us at the farmers markets, to working alongside Andrew out on the farm, John has truly been willing to jump in wherever he was needed.

We are so grateful for all of his hard work, dedication, and the time he has spent helping Spring House Farm grow. It has been a pleasure watching him become such an important part of our team, and we know he has an exciting future ahead of him.
John, we’re so proud of you and excited to see where this next chapter takes you. We wish you the very best of luck at Virginia Tech and in your studies! 🌱🎓

We’re hiring at Spring House Farm 🌾

We’re looking for individuals to join our team and help with customer service and farm store operations. This is a great role for someone who enjoys local food, community, and being part of a hardworking small farm environment.

What we’re looking for:
• Friendly and dependable
• Comfortable working outdoors, in a walk-in cooler, and in the farm store
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted

Experience is great, but willingness to learn and a good attitude matter most.
