Calving season has started! Three born over the last couple of days. I had a feeling the change in the weather was going to get it started. If you have bred cows you can almost guarantee they are going to pick a day full of rain and thunderstorms to drop a calf 😅

This is Pearl and her calf. She’s a Charolais cow (French Breed) and one of the very few non-black Angus cows on the farm. Pearl does not like the Man in the Hat taking her picture. She thinks he should drop the artsy photography and stick to his paid job of bringing her feed.

Pearl is special because she was the first “outsider” cow we brought into the herd. She’s from Loris and her government name is Ivory but we think she looks more like a Pearl.

Calving season is right around the corner! Our assault cow is so excited, can’t you tell??

Our chickens are not free-range but they do get moved to fresh pasture every few days! Here is a short clip our little camera man took of the process. 🤣 🐓

We’re starting to get dry again but thankful for the rain we were getting! Now we have have a great stockpile of grass and the cows are “belly deep”!
The only solar panels on this land are the millions of little grass leaves capturing the sun’s rays to produce energy and our 1300 pound glorified lawn mowers with four legs, use the energy from those solar panels to grow and develop. We’re simply taking sunshine, rain and grass and turning it into tasty, nutritious beef. What a sight and what a magnificent beast. Turn up the volume to hear the quiet.
