--The Cottage Farm Stay, The Airstream Glamper, and the Avion Glamper for those wishing to experience a few days "at the farm". We also have two accommodations, The Urban Farmhouse and The Urban Cottage that are off-property, but offer guests the ability to come to the farm, free of charge, and particip

ate in the farm life, whether by diving in with sleeves rolled up or by finding a nice place to relax and watch the day roll by.

--The Silo on-farm store will be undergoing a cosmetic reno, turning it into our winery's tasting room--The Crow's Nest! Grand Opening Date: May, 2023.

--Forty Cannons Winery! Fully licensed, our newest adventure is set for its grand opening in May, 2023. Stay tuned for more details! Hours of Operation shown are times during which we can TAKE APPOINTMENTS.

Ah, September...

That time of year when the harvest is done and the growth finally slows. It's been a record year, and all we could do was hang on for dear life. We're grateful for a little reprieve to catch our breath and rest a little. Just...a little.

UPDATE: Two wonderful young men came out, knocked out the job in record time, and made my day. Thanks guys!!

Anyone available today? I need pickers to help with bringing in the elderberry crop. Should only be 1-3 hours work, preferably before it gets too hot in the day.

Well, there you have it. The ENTIRE 2026 harvest of red muscadines in one hand--with room leftover.

I am not despairing, though, as those lil vines were just planted last November. They're growing well, and, honestly, I didn't expect to see a single grape from them this year. So, this little handful is a bonus. They're in the freezer now, awaiting picking time from two additional sources.

Can't wait to see what they bear next year!

Tonight's eclipse did not disappoint. Although, for a minute, I thought we might miss out on totality because of a few clouds floating by. Thankfully, that was not the case. The last in this series is a video that captured the chorus of coyotes that erupted just as totality happened. Volume up!

WHAT. A. Weekend.

So many wins, and a few bumps in the road, but I've learned a few things:

1. The chardonel is trying to kill me. I'm convinced of it. Why else would a section of vines more than double their output in one single year?

2. It takes a village to harvest a vineyard, even a small one like ours.

3. There are good people out there who genuinely want to help. Despite what the news or society in general would have us believe. They exist.

4. It was a good move to transition from a densely populated "animal farm" to one that grows and produces a crop. Don't get me wrong--we still have a few characters hanging around the periphery, watching our every move and providing a warm nuzzle or some comic relief when we need it. But, I don't feel pain deep in my heart when an ice storm takes out a few vines like I do when I watch the life fade from a set of brown eyes cradled in my arms. It's different.

5. As hard as the day-to-day physical work is, life is good, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Now, a getaway to my home beaches is long overdue and would be welcome about now, but first, responsibilities.

My goodness, how far we've come...

Twenty years ago today, our Tennessee adventure began with two travel-weary souls pulling into the driveway after a marathon 24-hour trip. Behind us--the life we'd lived in Florida. Before us lay a broken down, long-forgotten farm. And a load of dreams, surprises, and changes in direction along the way.

We are grateful for the journey so far, and we look forward to the road ahead. If it's anything like the last twenty years, we're in for a wild and wonderful ride.
