Visited my local with a short list of items needed and my PSR was triggered (potato skin radar). In between the bacon wrapped jalapeños and the cheese curds, my eyes were drawn to an unbranded box of potato skins for $13.99. There’s at least 25-30 in the box so excellent ROP. 360° for 10 minutes in the air fryer will do the trick, I let them sit in there an extra couple of minutes. These were excellent! Plenty of cheese throughout, but the saltiness of the bacon really stood out and hit the spot. I’m not sure who the manufacturer is but I think these beat out the last Costco frozen brand I had. I topped a couple of them off with a cracked pepper ranch from .valley chefs kiss. 100% would get again and probably should have purchased 2 boxes. 4.7 out of 5 🥔. I’m limited to 5 hashtags, what gives Zuckerberg??

By golly it’s been a minute since there’s been a review, but I finally found another restaurant that has potato skins. is a chain out of Ohio that opened a location in Clarksville Indiana. I was invited to their grand opening in September and let’s just say it wasn’t a grand first visit. The second photo is the order of potato skins I got on September 6th. I waited 50 minutes for the order, unfortunately the entire order was ice cold. Someone must have set them somewhere, found them 30 minutes later and then served them to me. I let the manager know I’d be back after they work their kinks out. Order looked good though, I think it was the first time I described a potato as voluptuous. Plenty of bacon, and scallions actually included on the order, just wish it wasn’t cold. Fast forward 2 months later and it’s time for another visit. I think I would have rather eaten the cold order than the order I had today. $12.95 for the order of 6, $2.16 per skin, not the best ROP. When I got in the car, all I could smell was scallions. I opened the lid and was surprised to see an order of scallions with a side of potatoes. This order looked nothing like the one from 2 months ago. WHERE’S THE BACON??? I picked up the first skin and it’s just barely warm. First bite and I’m already turned off. It was like a potato in a casing, some soft and raw spots wrapped in potato skin. I could only eat 2 of these they were that bad. Salt was definitely needed since they left the bacon off. The cheese was flavorless and acted as a skin on top of the potato. I wonder if these were just plucked out of a freezer bag and thrown into the fryer? Sour cream comes with the order, of course I got ranch though. It was nothing to write home about. Good to check this location off the list as I won’t be making a return visit. This order gets a 1.1 out of 5 🥔.

I’m pretty sure I’ve tried all the potato skins in Louisville and Southern Indiana. I had traveled to Henryville Indiana for a round of golf at and low and behold they had potato skins on their menu. After a dumpster fire round of 110, I ate my feelings with an order of their potato skins. The online menu says $9 for the order, but I was charged $12 for 6 small skins. Some of these skins were a 1 bite potato. Not a good RoP. There was real bacon included on this order. It had a flat top/cooked on a grill flavor to it which I found really interesting. The potatoes were evenly scooped, but they were frozen potato halves like you find at GFS in bulk. There was a melted cheese blend for this order, but needed more. Not looking for a cheese pull, but need more than just a dusting. There were scallions on the order, but I think they were dried and get sprinkled on for show. Sour cream came on the side, but I slacked and forgot to ask for a side of ranch. Maybe ranch would have helped with the score. Happy to have tried this order, but I’m probably skipping these next time and getting the cheese curds. This review comes in at 2.1 out of 5 🥔. ⛳️

Is this the first international potato skin review?? Hello from Holland 👋 (Michigan) and the Passing through with my future potato skin reviewer, Beechwood Grill was the first to come up when I googled “Potato skins near me.” We stopped by Friday night and it was so busy that we decide to come back for lunch the next day. The restaurant alone was huge and glad we returned the next day. We opted for an order of their cheese curds and potato skins of course. 5 skins for $10.50, not bad on the RoP. Overall size of these potatoes was really impressive, this was a fork and knife order they were that large. When the order arrived, you could smell the bacon right away. This is a real steakhouse and the bacon matched the energy. That first bite the bacon let me know it was the star of the review, smokey goodness. Besides being so large, the potatoes were scooped well, no thick spots found in this entire order. Real sharp shredded cheese was used and plenty of it. And can we say hello to scallions for this order, it’s been a minute since those have made an order. The ranch was really good too, no industrial taste at, could be speculation that they make it in house. I feel like steakhouses do pretty well when it comes to potato skins and Beechwood Grill knocked it out of the park with this order. I’d like to have that 6th potato skin as part of the order, but I’m putting this review in my all time top 7 reviews. 4.7 out of 5 🥔.

2024 is quickly coming to an end, time to hit the potato skin reviews hard.

Found myself in Southern Indiana last week around lunchtime, so of course I Googled “potato skins near me” and Hunter Station Pizza Sellersburg was the first option to pop up. Located in Sellersburg Indiana, Hunter Station is large restaurant with outdoor seating and good menu to pick from. The waitress brought over a menu and told her I was here for 1 thing and 1 thing only, potato skins! $9.99 for an order of 6 skins, but I received 8 so that’s a good start. The order came out piping hot with a large side of ranch. My first bite in and I’m intrigued and satisfied at the same time. The cheese got me going first, this tri cheese blend, a good mix of pizza cheese. I can’t confirm but I’m almost positive they have a pizza conveyor oven. The overflow of cheese was melted and crispy at the same time, this really stood out to me and was a really good feature to this review. The bacon was cooked properly and tasted like actual bacon. Potatoes were good sized and scooped pretty evenly, only a couple of skins with thick spots. I’m loving my first bites, potato cooked all the way through with that cheese standing out. Making my way through the order, there were just a couple spuds that might have needed a little extra time on the conveyor to cook all the way through. I know this isn’t a ranch specific account, but damn this was some good ranch here. I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu, but would always come back for the potato skins. Happy to give this a review of 4.0 out of 5 🥔. 🥔 🧀 🥓 🔥
