Everything lately has been about the sheep and goats so here's a cow appreciation post!

We ended lambing just in time to roll into "spring" calving. We got a little off schedule (our fault, not the cows) so we are calving a little later than us typical here.

The grass is coming on strong! The cows almost dissappear on the pasture. FYI, we do not fertilize or do anything special with our pastures. We strip graze/rotational graze our cattle. Each day they get a strip to graze and they are our "fertilizer". The section gets grazed for one day and then a rest of atleast 8 weeks. We do not do any regular deworming either which harms the beneficial insects that make up the healthy soil system. Beef done right - chemical free and raised on nature.

This little guy is looking for a brush clearing or future pack goat position.
He's 9 weeks old, still taking a bottle, but also eating food well. He was the smallest of quads and has been bottle fed so hes very well socialized (is my kids favorite). Will be banded (wethered) before he leaves. Good genetics and size and behind him. Clean tested herd.

Last lamb of the year!!We ended up with a total of 21 lambs - 12 ewe lambs and 9 ram lambs.

"Tiny Tim" was born at 5.2 lbs, half or more the size of a typical lamb, but hes been a fighter!
