We’re kicking off a new “Meet Your Ranchers” series—and we’re starting with us! 🦬
I’m Rachel, and this is my husband Lance. Here we are with some of our bison heifers at our finishing ranch in Hinton, Iowa—where your bison are carefully raised, finished, and prepared for your table.
Our story starts generations back. I’m the daughter of Bruce & Corrine, who started our bison herd in Sisseton, South Dakota. That ranch is still our production ranch today—home to all our mommas, calves, and bulls. From there, Lance and I bring select bison to our ranch in Hinton, IA to finish them with care and attention before harvest.
What makes us different?
✔️ Family-raised from birth to harvest
✔️ No antibiotics or added growth hormones
✔️ Small-batch processed at a local facility
✔️ Shipped from our ranch to your door
This isn’t factory meat—it’s the result of generations of hard work, stewardship, and pride in doing things the right way.
This place runs deep for Lance—he was born here and has never lived anywhere else. Our home was built in 1900, and generations of his family have lived and worked this land.
Along with running Heritage Bison Ranches, we also grow the corn and alfalfa our bison eat, as well as soybeans. Life stays busy with our crew—6 kids, 6 grandkids, the bison herd, 5 horses (Happy, Spider, Dox, Dainty and Marshall Dillon), 1 dog (King Julian), 2 barn cats (Barbara Bush and Tipper Gore), and 1 indoor cat (Phoebe)!
In our free time, I love riding our horses, Lance enjoys golfing, and we’re both big rodeo fans. We even make it out to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas every year with my Dad 🤠
When you order from us, you’re not just buying bison—you’re supporting a real family, a real ranch, and a way of life we’re proud to carry on.
Thanks for being here and supporting our family ranch—we’re excited to share more of our story with you!
