Every morning, the chicken tractors get moved onto a fresh piece of ground. It may look simple, but this daily move is one of the most important parts of raising pasture-raised poultry.

Fresh grass, bugs, sunshine, and clean ground all play a role in keeping the birds active, healthy, and growing. This constant rotation is better for the chickens, better for the soil, and better for the food that ends up on your table.

Whoa, where did August go!?

Before school started back up, we made it a priority to slow down and enjoy some extra time together as a family.

This is also our peak poultry season, when we’re juggling multiple batches of chickens while getting our Thanksgiving turkeys started.

No worries, our chicks are in good hands. Some even receive a little cuddle care!

We’re grateful for the summer days we were able to spend together and all the memories we made.

As farmers… we think about our crops.

These warm, humid conditions are perfect for disease to develop in corn and soybeans, so this is the time of year you’ll often see airplanes and drones making applications across farm fields.

Today we’ve hired a drone application service to apply a fungicide to help protect our corn and soybeans while also adding a foliar nutrition product to give the crop an extra boost during grain fill. The goal is simple: keep the plant as healthy as possible so it can make the most of the growing season.

This cooler weather’s been a nice change! Feels better for us and the animals.

The pigs and chickens have really been enjoying the cooler temps, and it’s made catching up on chores around the farm a whole lot easier. We’re thankful for a break from the heat!

Summer Monthly Boxes are here 🔥

We’re starting in June just in time for Father’s Day weekend at the Fayette County Farmers' Market!

Each month, we’ll put together a different box based on what we have available here on the farm. It’s an easy way to grab pasture-raised meats for the grill, weekend meals, camping trips, or stocking the freezer.

These will change month to month, so each box will be a little different.

Busy couple of weeks on the farm 🌿

The pigs got moved onto a bigger pasture, and our newest batch of chicks are settling into the brooder before moving out to pasture next week.

With wheat harvest coming up, there’s plenty to keep us busy this time of year on the farm. 🐷🐥🌾
