Some days on the farm start one way and end up completely different.

Plans change, things go wrong, and the work of trying to catch a day-old lamb when you’re 3 years old can feel a little overwhelming.

But even then, it’s good to pause and be thankful for what He blesses us with!

Farm update from Compton Creek Farms 🐓🐷

As we’re getting close to finishing our first batch of pasture-raised chickens for the season, we’re also starting to train our pigs to our styles of fencing at the barn.

The chickens are starting to get some good size to them while the pigs are having no problem finding a time for a nap.

We should have all of our chicken cuts back in stock soon, and we’re excited to keep working toward adding pastured pork to the farm this year.

Putting the flock to work 🔥🐑

Temporary fencing is up and the ram is split from the ewes now that breeding is wrapped up. Now we’re prepping for corn by rotationally grazing this cover crop. We’re aiming to graze the grass/volunteer wheat down so the clovers/vetch can really take off over the next month or two—helping build a natural nitrogen boost for our corn crop this spring. 🌱🌽

Now we wait…excited for our first lambing season and our first corn crop!🐑🌽
