Some of my FB friends know we’ve really been trying to clean up the way we eat and get back to knowing where our food actually comes from. 🌾🐓
There is SO much processed food and fake stuff out there anymore, and the more I read ingredient labels, the more I think… maybe Grandma had the right idea. 😂
We just ordered 25 meat chicks from a hatchery in PA that we’ll raise here for our freezer. We’re already making our own bread, getting fresh eggs from our chickens, and buying our beef from a local farm. Next year, I’m planning on putting in a good-sized garden again too. 🍅🥒🌽
Now, am I trying to become Ma Ingalls overnight? Absolutely not. 😂 I still appreciate modern conveniences and I’m sure you’ll still catch me at the grocery store. But I really do love the idea of getting back to basics—grow some of it, raise some of it, make some of it, and know what’s actually in our food.
So all my farm, homesteading, and natural-living friends… what else should we be doing?
Canning? Freezing? Herbs? Sourdough? Making butter? Homemade cleaners? Buying more directly from local farms? I want the practical stuff—the things you’ve actually done and thought, Yep, this is worth the extra work.
We’re definitely not full-blown homesteaders over here, but apparently we’re headed in that direction. 😂🐓🌻
And honestly… I’m kind of loving it. ❤️
