Is the viral Nitro Bar worth the hype? 😮
📍The Nitro Bar
🗺️ Where It’s Located: Newport, Rhode Island
☕️ What I Ordered: Iced Cookie Butter Latte & Iced Anniversary Cake Latte
⭐️ What Stood Out: Nitro Bar’s signature piped whipped topping has definitely contributed to its viral reputation. Nitro Bar also makes all of its syrups in-house, with fun and unique rotating seasonal flavors. The cookie butter latte had noticeable ginger notes that kept the sweetness from being one-dimensional, and cookie crumbles on top added great texture and visual presentation. The anniversary cake latte was also delicious but leaned overly sweet.
☝🏼What Could Improve: The iced lattes were genuinely great, but I was left wishing that the espresso had shined through more. The Anniversary Cake latte also felt lacking in presentation next to the Cookie Butter latte. A freeze-dried strawberry or cake chunk on a skewer would have taken it to the next level.
👀 What I Found Intriguing: I noticed that the iced drink prep followed this pattern: add ice in the cup, then the syrup, milk, and shot — then pour the whole thing into a cocktail shaker and pour it back into the cup. To be honest, it seemed a bit inefficient. Why not add the syrup, milk, and shot directly to the cocktail shaker to mix, then pour over ice in the cup?
🤔 Worth the visit? Absolutely. Even though it’s super busy at times, Nitro offers a relaxing, chill atmosphere with earthy accents like rattan lampshades, flowing plants, and plenty of natural light. The unique rotating flavors and eye-catching presentation make it more than just an online sensation.
