THREE TORNADOES IN ONE COUNTY…

Blessed beyond measure is an understatement for our farm. Knowing that three tornadoes were confirmed during the dark hours of June 11 validates the fear we felt that evening.

As daylight arrived, the extent of the storm became clear. Neighbors were out assessing damage, clearing fallen trees, and cleaning up debris. We, too, were spared what could have easily been a catastrophic event.

Checking on the alpacas reminded us of their remarkable resilience. They were cushed and calmly chewing their cud as if nothing had happened.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who experienced damage from these storms. We are especially grateful that no lives were lost.

SHEARING 2026…It’s a wrap… or should we say “unwrapped!” 😉

Thanks to Tessa and Chris from Wild and Woolly Custom Shearing and our friend, Mike, shearing day went smoothly and quickly once again. Not only did the alpacas get their fresh summer haircuts, they also enjoyed pedicures, teeth filing when needed, and their annual CDT vaccinations.

Everyone handled the day like champs… with one very vocal exception. Saffron made sure we all heard her opinion this year! 🦙😂

FROM THE MOUTHS OF BABES…

The National Alpaca Show was held this weekend at the Fort Wayne Coliseum, and one of the most rewarding parts of owning alpacas is watching people experience them for the very first time.

Young and old alike stop, smile, and laugh when they see these amazing animals up close.

We shared a particularly sweet moment with the parents of a young boy who noticed one alpaca resting in the classic ‘cush’ position and announced with great concern:

“Look! Those don’t have any legs!” 🤣

Moments like these are just one more reason we love sharing alpacas with others.

SWEET VISITORS…
These little cuties braved the cold and traveled from Fort Wayne this morning to feed the alpacas and shop in the gift store! ❄️🦙🥶

Next week’s temps look to be a little more ‘bear’able! 🧸
