Downtown Kirksville would not be the same without Pagliai's Pizza !
🍞
A Piece of Kirksville History 🍕 🕰️
For more than 60 years, Pagliai’s Pizza has been a cornerstone of downtown Kirksville. Since opening its doors in 1963, Pagliai’s has served generations of families, students, visitors, and community members from the same iconic location on the northeast corner of the downtown square.
Long before the aroma of pizza and fresh-baked Palonzas filled the building, it served as the home of Citizens National Bank. In 1963, the bank relocated to a new facility, opening the door for a new chapter in the building’s history. That same year, Pagliai’s Pizza moved in and began what would become one of Kirksville’s most beloved traditions.
While much has changed over the decades, Pagliai’s commitment to quality, tradition, and community has remained the same. The restaurant continues to use the recipes and techniques that helped establish its reputation, serving handcrafted pizzas and the famous Palonza, a Kirksville original that has become a local legend.
Students from Truman State University and A.T. Still University, local families, and visitors from across the country have gathered around Pagliai’s tables for generations. Countless celebrations, reunions, first dates, study breaks, and family dinners have taken place within these historic walls.
Today, Pagliai’s Pizza remains locally owned and operated, proudly carrying on a tradition that began in 1963 while preserving a unique piece of Kirksville history. More than just a restaurant, it is a gathering place where memories are made, stories are shared, and traditions continue from one generation to the next.
