One of the best parts of CSA season is enjoying the variety of fresh, organic vegetables in your weekly share! To help you get the most out of your produce, here are a few simple storage tips to keep everything fresh and flavorful longer:
- Trim the ends of asparagus and place the steams upright in a cup of water, like a bouquet of flowers, to keep them fresh longer!
- Remove the greens from root vegetables like radishes and beets to help extend their freshness. Use the greens right away for a healthy quick side dish!
- Store leafy greens in a loose bag or container with a paper towel to absorb excess moisture.
- Leave heirloom tomatoes on the countertop stem side down in a single layer. Best to use within 1-3 days!
- Store unwashed rhubarb in the refrigerator in an airtight container or tightly wrapped in a plastic bag.

Every year for the past 10 years, we get some very special visitors here at LFFC.
Our favorite goose family returns to the exact same nesting spot outside our office, and this week, their newest little flock arrived just in time for Mother’s Day! After mama goose diligently cared for her eggs for weeks, the goslings hatched late Monday into Tuesday and ventured out from the nest for the very first time on Wednesday morning.
