Daugherty Ranch Jacobs We are a small acreage farm with the primary focus of raising the beautiful and hearty Jacob sheep.

We thoughtfully breed only registered, breed standard ewes and rams in an effort to produce desirable fleece and structurally sound animals.

And so it begins. Show season is upon us and today is the day for the lambs I’m taking to EPWM to get up on the stand for a little mini fitting session and evaluation. They mostly did great. Except Hurman, he thinks I’m a big meanie poopoo head.

The three ram lambs will be leaving the show in Estes Park and heading to new flocks in the Pacific Northwest to become herd sires.

The two ewe lambs will probably stay here.

BLD “Meck” (BLD Mac x NorthWinds Meg) clicks all the “desirable traits” for the Jacob Sheep Breeders Association breed standard for. Literally every single one. And those horns are tracking nice and wide out over his ears, just like I like to see them.

Meck will be available after weaning in mid May. Can be held for pick up until the JSBA AGM in July/August.

I can’t with the 🖤on her nose!!! With a name like “Cloudberry” (BLD Thompson x Fair Adventure Celia) would you expect anything but a cutie like her?!?! I can’t wait to see what her fleece turns out like. Her dam has consistently turned out some lambs with really top tier fleeces. And her sire’s fleece……🤌🏻

****RESERVED*** “Nyle” (BLD Green x Fair Adventure Cleopatra) is the cutest little lilac bu**er!! I predict that his horns are going to be epic. Both parents have impressively wide sets. And yes, those are blue eyes. His dam came to me after being bred by my home grown ram, and I plan to repeat this pairing next season because both Nyle and his sister are awesome!! They were the last lambs born this year and man were they worth the wait!

He will be available after weaning in early June. Nyle could be held for pick up at the JSBA AGM in July/August.

BLD “Minnie” (BLD Mac x NorthWinds Meg)has no time for pictures!! Despite her classic fashion sense, with her stylish belt, she is not interested in posing for the paparazzi! Her halo coat (a normal trait for primitive breeds) is currently shedding out to make way for a lovely little fleece like her mama. She is a 2 horn black and white lady but carries both 4 horn and lilac genetics. I suspect she will be a stout made ewe.

Minnie will be available after weaning in Mid May. She can be held for pickup at the JSBA AGM in July/August

***RESERVED***. If you’ve been following along with my lambs, you may recognize this guy. We call him Scooby…..or Scoobs for short (BLD Chester x Moose Mtn Sofi Tucker). He is the grandson of a ram who died more than 10 years ago. His dam is the only surviving progeny and she is the only living registered American Jacob Sheep who born as a result of artificial insemination. I just love his smiley face.

If you know me, you know I LOVE a good 2 horn ram. As all of these ram horns start to really show, I’m constantly scanning for a good wide set. Clay (BLD Mac x Fair Adventure Cora-Mae) is consistently grabbing my eye. Honestly, it’s probably because he looks like his daddy in the face. 😉

I was really excited about this pairing because of the propensity for both parents to have really consistent and even keeled personalities. This ram lamb has all the blueprints be a fantastic herd sire option for a shepherd who is looking for an easy handler.

Clay will be weaned by mid May and can be held for pick up at either the JSBA AGM or Estes Park Wool Market.
