Daugherty Ranch Jacobs We are a small acreage farm with the primary focus of raising the beautiful and hearty Jacob sheep.

We thoughtfully breed only registered, breed standard ewes and rams in an effort to produce desirable fleece and structurally sound animals.

These Missouri girls have big ambitions! You’re looking at the foundation ewes for a brand new flock of Jacob sheep with Fenrir's Farm & Animal Care. In a last minute coordinated effort, these two cuties hopped in the truck with my show sheep to go find their new home in Craig, Colorado. The black ewe is a Daugherty Ranch Jacob lamb and the lilac is a Belle Ridge Farm ewe lamb.

Again, a huge THANK YOU to Eric of Wellman Family Corriedales for letting them hitch a ride from Estes Park to their new place as your neighborhood!

These three boys are off to new flocks in the Pacific Northwest. They are going to be future herd sires at Ruby Peak Jacobs and Grateful Jacobs. Last week I hauled them from Missouri to Colorado for show at the Estes Park Wool Market where they were very good boys! They learned all the kindergarten lessons show lambs get - waiting patiently, being brave, walking nicely in line, sitting still and that snacks are cool.

This gal comes from a pair of winners! Her dam was the 2025 JSBA AGM Grand Champion Ewe and her fleece also took Grand Champion in the 2025 Wool Show. Her sire was the Reserve Champion Natural Color Ram at the 2024 Nation Western Stock Show and the 2024 Supreme Champion Wool Breed Ram at the Colorado State Fair. With a sweep straight out over his ears, Clay's horns are just what I like to see. Both dam and sire are the gold standard for personality in my flock. This 4 horn guy would be an excellent addition to a flock that is looking for a ram to lay more color onto his lambs. He is a gentle boy, who sports more of a Ferdinand The Bull type personality. He is out of the matriarch of my very best fleece line. His horns look promising with plenty of space between the laterals and uprights. His sire is an absolute beast as far as his frame. If you’re not going to be a Jacob in the Daugherty Ranch Jacobs flock, you should for sure be something cool. Little Pal is a Merino x Finn wether and he checks the cool box for sure! Aside from giving teddy bear vibes with his adorable face, his fleece is scrumdiddlyuptious and just what I ordered when I asked his breeder to make me another fiber wether.

Coming “soon” as a Melly Knits bat, guts treat or some other magical thing she does!

The VERY BEST tool in halter training is a well trained adult ewe!! You’ll never convince me otherwise.

A ewe who trusts you, is calm and knows that going somewhere on halter typically means extra snacks is, hands down, the best teacher for lambs and even adults who aren’t halter trained. A sheep’s flock drive is hardwired. Lamb and other sheep trust the adult ewe and rely on them for safety and reassurance in new situations.

I’ve found that partnering with them cuts halter training time in half, at least. I have several ewes in my flock who I rely on to help me train each year. Today it was Cora-Mae’s turn as teacher.

As always, she was the goodest girl!!
