Proof that farming has been part of my story for a very long time.

Just look at this photo.

The oversized rooster.
The oversized glasses.
The aggressively 90s bangs.

But when I look past all that, I see a little girl who loved being outside. A little girl who was happiest around animals, dirt under her fingernails, and anything growing in the garden.

Back then, I had no idea that one day I’d be growing flowers, talking dahlias with customers, and spending my evenings checking seedlings and weather forecasts. But looking at this picture now, maybe the clues were there all along.

Life has a funny way of bringing us back to the things we loved first.

The farm looks different these days, and thankfully so do the glasses, but the joy I find in growing things is very much the same.

As for the bangs… I’m still undecided. Feel free to weigh in. 👇😂

Whew.

Today was all about the not-so-glamorous side of flower farming.

✔️ W**d fabric laid down
✔️ Rows rototilled
✔️ Drip irrigation installed
✔️ More rocks removed than I care to count

It's not the pretty part. There were no armloads of blooms, no colorful bouquets, and definitely no Instagram-worthy flower photos.

But this work matters.

Every row prepped today is creating a soft landing place for hundreds of tiny seedlings that are desperately craving some warm weather and their chance to grow.

After the rain, the cold nights, and all the spring weather challenges, it feels good to finally see things coming together.

Now, Mother Nature, we're ready when you are. ☀️🌱

Whew... that weather was intense, and we still have a chilly night ahead of us with temperatures dipping into the upper 30s.

Not exactly planting weather, friends.

If you've already planted your dahlias, it might be worth checking your soil and making sure things aren't staying too soggy after all this rain.

Between being a busy working mom and trying to navigate this spring weather, I haven't quite gotten all those beautiful dahlia babes into the ground yet. That's on this week's agenda. Tomorrow I'll finally be getting w**d fabric down for the tender annuals with a plan to get those planted next weekend.

If I said this weather wasn't stressing me the heck out, I'd be lying. But I have some amazing flower people in my corner reminding me that every season is different. Once the warmth arrives, the blooms will take off too. Flower farming has a way of keeping us humble.

The last of the dahlia tubers went home today, and something pretty special happened. A customer left me a couple mountain mint plants in the flower stand that they found at a plant sale.

You know what? Flowers connect people. They create friendships, conversations, and unexpected acts of kindness. To be thought of in that way honestly means so much and was a pretty awesome surprise.

Tomorrow will be all about prep work so getting plants in the dirt after work this week is as easy as possible.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, friends, and here's hoping this sunshine is here to stay. ❤️

Anyone else getting weather whiplash lately? 🌧️☀️🥶

As a full-time working momma and flower farmer, this spring has definitely required a little extra patience. One day we’re looking at 80s… the next we’re back to rain, wind, and temps in the 30s.

If you already planted your dahlias, I honestly think most will be just fine ❤️

That said — with this upcoming stretch of rain, it’s worth checking your soil conditions. If your beds are feeling especially wet or holding water, you may want to temporarily cover them with a tarp to keep tubers from sitting in cold saturated soil.

For now, I’m reminding myself that slow starts don’t mean bad seasons 🌱

Sometimes flower farming in Maine just means learning to pivot, adjust, and trust that once the warmth finally settles in… things grow fast!

So if you’re feeling behind - you’re not. But I am in all the feels right there with you!

Final call on dahlia tubers is Friday! Send me a DM for extra extra discounts!

This holiday weekend was the perfect mix of productive and fun 🤍

First things first — my husband and I made a very important commitment Friday morning: ice cream would be consumed every single day of the long weekend 🍦😂

As I sat Monday night finishing off an ice cream bar while writing this post… I can officially report we were successful.

The weekend was full of dahlia bed prep, porch pretties finding homes in pots, and one of my favorite projects yet — creating a little herb beverage center 🌿 Complete with apple mint, pineapple sage, dwarf basil, lemon thyme, and chamomile. I already know the iced teas, lemonades, and mocktails this summer are going to be SO good.

I spent some time wandering our local farmers market and somehow came home with tomato plants, husk cherries, a few more herbs, and even a little lisianthus 👀🌸 More to come on whether I’ll be brave enough to attempt growing lisianthus from seed next season… because we all know I apparently enjoy chaos.

Sunday was spent at a Red Sox game with my bestie and my little family ⚾️ And somewhere in all the busyness, my husband and I celebrated twelve years of marriage 🤍

Monday was slower and sweet — helping my momma pick out and set up her porch so she can have the little sanctuary she deserves.

Overall, it was such a good weekend. And if I’m being honest, this post would’ve gone up Monday night… but life has been so busy lately that I needed tonight to catch up and snap a few photos first 😂

Those magical potatoes need to get in the ground!!

Now onto another week of planting, prepping, and chasing summer 🌱☀️

This is rare 🤍

Luna is not exactly known for being a snuggler. And if she does decide to cuddle, it’s usually with my son… right before she suddenly decides she’s had enough and lightly bites him to make her point 😂

So the fact that she chose to curl up with me last night? I’ll absolutely take it — even if the moment only lasted about 6 minutes.

Truthfully, Luna has been so patient and kind with our wild little puppy, Gus. I genuinely thought she might either maul him or disappear into hiding forever once he arrived 😅 But somehow, here we are.

And in the middle of this loud, busy, beautiful life filled with sports schedules, flowers, muddy boots, animals, and endless adventure… everything feels quiet for a minute when one of your animals settles into their spot and decides their safe place is with you. Even if it’s only for 6 minutes 🖤

Meanwhile, I’m still prepping beds and getting everything ready for planting season. Reality is the tubers and tender annuals may not make it into the ground until next weekend — and honestly, that’s okay. There’s still time, and neither I nor the plant babies are loving this cold rainy weather anyway 🌧️🌱

Headed on a family day out today as tomorrow the flower planning will continue… 💗

Supervising bird activity, soaking up the fresh air, and being the sweetest little porch companion there ever was.
