I want to share some photos with you to show how MAGICAL Real Milk is...for SOIL!! A few months of the year, when the cows have just had their calves, the milk production gets higher and higher for a few weeks, then drops once the cows are bred back. I can't commit those gallons to standing order customers, so during those weeks we make DOUBLE CREAM!! YUMMMM!!! The skim milk that's left over after separating off the cream should NOT be consumed by humans or animals, honestly. The lack of cream means that the body can't uptake the nutrients to the nervous system/brain. The cream is the bus that get those nutrients into the system. But, SOIL LOVES SKIM MILK!!! The photos below tell a great story. Both areas have cow pressure - manure/urea/hoof action and grazing. The first photo is taken just outside the milk-house door and is where we toss buckets full of skim milk to nourish the "cow yard" where new moms and their calves graze after they're born. The first few years you could see the pattern of the bucket splash in the deep green and higher growth! Now, many years in, the biology has proliferated all across the yard, from fence line to fence line, though I've never lugged a bucket that far! 🤣 Microorganisms are amazing!!! The second picture was also taken today, behind the milk-house. Grass still growing and greeting the spring, but with not near the height, density or deep green. Amazing contrast!!
