Maplehawk Exhibition Poultry Maplehawk Exhibition Poultry was started in the spring of 2014 with poultry 4-H projects for our 3 children. We are NPIP and breed towards the SOP.

Our flock is NPIP/AI monitored # 31-769

We are located in central Ohio close to Columbus, Oh. Any poultry breeding we do we strive to work towards the APA/ABA Standard for the breed. We show poultry as a family endeavor and instill good sportsmanship and friendly competition into our children. The breeds we currently have are-
Bantam Buff Brahama
Bantam Partridge Wyandottes
Bantam Silver Penciled Wayandottes
Belgian Bearded D'Anvers in Black/Splash/Blue
Bantam WC Black Polish
Bantam & LF Silver Laced Polish

We strive to breed towards the standard and will offer both exhibition and pet quality when available.

A whole lot late writing anything about last weekend's show- better late than never?!

Had a wonderful time at the Dayton Fancy Feathers show in Greenville Ohio. This show was always our first for the spring and first for the fall when the kids were little and holds so many memories!!

The show hosted a banquet. It was wonderful!! Nothing like good food and great friends and family to end the day!! No trying to figure out where to go for supper when you're worn out and can't make a decision. 🤣
It reminds me of when some of the dairy goat shows we attended would host a dinner. Best times! 🍽️

Our oldest daughter and her husband judged the Jr show and spent the weekend with us. They did a fantastic job judging! We are so proud of them!

You can teach an old dog new tricks, even though the old dog didn't like it. 🤣 I am almost 60 years old and learned to dub Old English for the first time this past weekend. Here are my boys pictured, acting like nothing happened.
For those that don't know- in order to show Old English Game males it is required in the SOP to dub. I've had OE running about my barns for years but only in the last 4 years or so I decided to take them seriously, acquire good breeding stock and move forward. I do have a couple starred wins in Black! But OE is one of the most competitive classes so wins are far and few in between, but I enjoy the challenge.

Years ago when I first started breeding dairy goats my mentor said - if you are going to continue to breed, you NEED to learn to disbud the kids. I begrudgingly learned but it became easy over time and John and I perfected how we got the job done.

Fast forward to now ...
Bill Wulff has helped me a lot with my OE and he's been telling me- you're gonna have to learn, I'm not going to do this for you forever, I'm not going to be around forever - (which I don't want to hear!) I tried to get out of it but his exact words were - suck it up buttercup. 🤣🙄

It's definitely not fun for man nor beast, same as disbudding goat kids- but I did it and I'm proud of that and I feel confident (sort of 😬) that I can do the next group when they get old enough.

Attended the White River Poultry Show yesterday in Spencer Indiana. Hottest poultry show I think I have ever been to (that wasn't held in an AC barn) 🔥 The temperature and humidity was absolutely miserable! We survived and my birds seem no worse for it, me on the other hand is still trying to recover.

When I showed dairy goats longevity was
a plus and what got 2 of my best does 50+ BIS wins combined in their show careers.

A nice start to the fall show season with the weekend spent at the Indiana State Fair open poultry show 🎡🎠

I was thrilled to have a Bearded White Silkie pullet go Champion Featherleg and then get Reserve Bantam!!
My 9 year old White hen was RV! ❤️
My Blacks were BV/RV and my hen "Indy" was RB. I was told there were around 90 FL in the show!
